Short Shifter.

Hey ppl so im wanting to but a short shifter.
but im between the Mazdaspeed Short shifter and the TWMperformance Short Shifter.
does any one have either one or know the difference?
which one would u recommend?

i dont know much about the mazdaspeed accessory short shifter, but I do know that TWM makes high quality products and very detailed instructions on install, all at a pretty cheap price. Plus theyre a sponsor on this forum, always good to support them :)

I'm not sure which one is better, but I would go with TWM. If you search it on ebay you will find great deals, plus the TWM comes with a new leather shift boot. It is smaller and cut for the short shifter (plus you get to choose your fav coloured stitching)
You can use the factory one and just readjust the boot, there are how to's on here. But my boot is starting to rip already after just 30k. So would be nice to have a new one!

That isn't it at all. I just wanted to have zero warranty worries. I would consider just getting the TWM and having Mazda install it --- assuming they would.

Im sure they would...its just a question about money, but this way they would obviously know that you have one!!!

Just do it yourself, its really not alot of work.

i say go with the TWM i heard a lot of appreciation and the throws are a bit shorter....i am getting a short shifter as well but its a ralco short shifter from ebay for 120 including shipping..i bargained with the guy. ...actually no i didn't get my cash back yet he still didn't respond to my refund request....if he doesn't i will file a dispute and I HATE doing that since it takes ages to get your money back, by the time you get it back you don't even need it then. Go with either TWM, ARK, or Mazdaspeed....the rest i wouldn't trust. I say TWM, you don't complain about spending the money.

I like my TWM a lot, but the thin leather boot is torn. I'm sure if I contacted them I could get a replacement, but I expect the new one will do the same fairly quickly.

good question mazdathree i forgot to ask that...i don't want to pay 200+ with the bushings so would it make a difference of not having them and just buying the short shifter for like 180.

I'm not sure about the bushings. I didn't. The boot didn't tear REALLY fast--maybe a year or so after I bought it, but it shouldn't ever tear. I've never had any of the OEM shift boots in any of my cars tear, so I'd gladly give on the real leather if it means it's just going to rip.

ok, ive gathered some info on the ralco shifters from what i have read and heard. The shifter is like the mazda speed except that the throws are not any shorter than stock, it is just pointing towards the driver giving him/her more control over it. I will be getting my short shifter soon (ralco) ill let you guys know how it goes from personal experience.

I went with a TWM but I can definitely vouch for ARK products. I have an ARK exhaust and its been awesome. I get tons of compliments on the sound and I have never had an issue with it. Great company!

i'll post a few pics tomorrow. I got the leather boot with silver stitching though. I kept the stock knob since i spend a lot of money all at once on the car so i have to take it easy for a bit. I installed my header yesterday as well.
