Hi Guys, do you think this will fit the 2008 Mazda5? http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-460-podium-roof-rack-system.html# or this one http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-460r-rapid-podium-roof-rack-system.html

I says it makes use of the integrated fixed point rack attachment locations in the car. And is compatible with 2006+ Mazda 5. It also has a lower profile than the OEM ones.

What u think?

It should be compatible, as the '08 was really just a refresh of the front end. The roof line should be exactly the same. I gotta get busy and think about some roof racks one of these days...

Great find! I was planning on going with the factory racks but never really like the high rise look. The low rise racks look great...

Look nice, but they don't have "Mazda" plastic badges (ugh)

Just kidding, They look great, I agree, the OEM have a very high profile. I would suggest to give them a call just to make sure (at least they are aware you already called)...

As I said earlier, the OEM ones are also made by Thule anyway.

To help with the wind noise from the height of the rack I got one of those Thule fairings and it makes a world of difference. They're less than $100 and easy to install.

Cool, What model number is it?

Yeah, for the daily commute there is no trouble but I had to drive a couple of hours away from here for work and yes, it took me some time to realize where the subtle yet weird wind noise was coming from (doh) (evil)

Is it something like this? Thanks for the tip!

Howdy all,

i picked up a used Thule rack with Aerobars off craigslist like the one at this link......

http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4.php?emulate=roofbar&query=5222&vptype=with+roof+mounted+%27Fixpoint%27+fittings&brand=Thule

the guy got it in the UK and apparently the Mazda 3 & 5 take the same racks - this may allow for a larger selection.

(thumb) I'll do some research, this seems more standard so I'll even try to find a used one.

What u think?Tried order that rack for my 08. They emailed me back and said there was a fit issue. They called Thule and said they have one being made for the 08 Mazda 5 etc. Fit number 3069 should be ready in about three weeks. ORS will ship once it is in along with bars and fairing I need
Hope this helps out.

Anthony,
I found the fairing but it has different sizes, 32in, 38in and 44in. Which one do you have? The roof rack bar width is 38in, but just double checking if a longer one is needed.

Thanks again!
