I was looking for the EGR for my 2000 1.6 L protege but could not find it near the throttle body. Any idea?

are you trying to pass smog or something?? because if so, you dont need to have one, your car will be tested as an OBDII test.. (also, do you live in cali?)

i am pretty sure it was only the California 1.6s that had an EGR.
you don't have to get under the car to check if you have one, just look at the exhaust manifold, if you see a pipe going from the right side of the manifold to the back of the motor by the throttle body, you have one. if the bung has a cap on it on the manifold, you do not.

Yes, I do see a metal pipe running from the manfold to the throttle body but the "EGR" seems to be held to the throttle body with 4 small screws. I have a Australian 1.6 protege so not really sure if this is the damn EGR?

Thanks. There is no such a thing on mine and only one right underneth the TB. I guess that Oz model is different somhow.
even most of the NA 1.6L proteges don't have EGR. only the california version has it.
