I have AWR "Auto" front and rear motor mounts, a new, welded, stock LSD and a new stock clutch (55,000 miles). I need "more solid" side mounts and/or the engine damper kit. Who has the best stuff for my next mod?

I don't mind the MSP vibration. Engine is stock and I run 215-50-17's on stock wheels (lots of grip with 1.5 inch wider tires).

I also have the "clunk fix" with TIGHTER bushings from Energy Suspension (my research and development on the bushings).

Front and rear mounts and lowering the car should completely eliminate wheel hop. I'm sure the stiffer durameter mount will work much better if the softer ones are still giving you wheel hop.

I know AWR has inserts for both side mounts, they also just came out with a full tranny mount...

Protege Garage has the inserts for $45, or the entire tranny mount, for $105... Or you could just use epoxy...

Thanks, the tranny mnt looks good, and then inserts for the other side. Is somebody still developing some kind of engine damper?

My 215-50-17's are 3/4 inch wider AND taller on each side. It is awesome!!! 215 isn't 215 when rim protectors are built into the tire. My car looks lowered when I have them on in the summer. I can't even get my hand on top of the rear tire.

Thanks, I found it. This is the damper body the guy on here was working with and he was making his own mounts. I think it went between the side engine mount and the strut tower brace.

What is a URL for the tires? 03 stock silver (not gunmetal) MazdaSpeed rims! There is a lot of size variation from tire brand/name to tire brand/name in the same size!

Stiffer side mount would solve it, unless its your tires. Still won't hurt to throw one on. I'm running SLS side and front and stock rear/trans mount and get no hop.

It doesnt.. I have the 95 durometer front and rear AWR mounts and have Tein S-techs on my car and it still wheel hops like crazy..

It seems like the sticky tires are the problem based on so many peoples resposes. I guess if you hook up "too good" somethings got to give!

I'm gonna do the sides next. Is there a side mount "how to" for both sides? Is it do-able for the back yard mechanic with slightly more than "normal" tools?

My bad, URL = website link - for those specific tires you have on 215-50-17 that you running. I really wanna check em out, can you tell me where you got em and they're for summer only right ?

wow, that sux. I had that same set-up at one point, and wheel hop was gone for good....even at the sticky ass track. I also ran Azenis 615's along with that, maybe that was the difference maker? I still run the 95 duro mounts all around, and now with Ksports....still no wheel hop.

a 215/45/17 is the same section width as a 215/50

Theoretically.

Measure the actual section width of an RT-615 to a different brand of same size. Even though a 215 should be a 215, and be 215mm wide, some run wider and some run narrower.

I wouldnt really call Toyo Proxes 4 sticky and they're the factory 215/45/17 size.. But I had just forgotten that I have a torn pass. side mount.. Im almost positive thats what is causing the wheel hop..

95 Awr's all the way around. No wheel hop no where. First mod I did when I bought my msp.

And some tires have an aggressive rim protector built in (extra rubber) and the part that hits the road is THAT width (215) but it gets REALLY wide toward the rim!

width towards the rim wont do anything for traction, as a matter of fact a stiffer sidewall will cause the tire not to flex as much so instead of hte sidewall flexing to absorb some of the torque then the tread is going to have to break loose from the ground. If you are "wheel hopping" and not just spinning then id say its ur driving more than anything else. I have the auto front and rear awr mounts, stock clutch, and revised lsd and i was cutting 2.15 60 foots with no hop on falken azenis st115 245/45/17's and 2.27 60's on falken ziex 912 215/45/17's, and 2.0 on 215/35/18 kumho ecsta mx's. If u are generally wheel hopping another option u might look into for the track only is getting some adjustable spring spacers for the rear or some ajustable rate struts (i have tokico illumina 5 ways getting ready to go on mine.

What is your launch technique?

I use Tokico Illuminas set at 5 (stiff), AWR (95 durometer) front and rear mounts and the wheel hop is still there but less noticeable from the previous setting (3).
There was a Bulk Buy in PT a while ago for a set of traction bars, might wanna check the pics or even talk to the guy who made them. It seemed that they removed most of wheelhop on a few members that actually installed them.

Just in case you guys have sensitive rules about sales or links to other forums, im just trying to spead the knowledge, don't know the guy personally eventhough i've bought a few things from him, and/or wont make profit if he custom makes the bars for you.
I found this thread later when the bulk buy had ended otherwise i could have gotten a set myself. If the link violates any rules please feel free to remove
