First off, I have a regular 2008 Mazda3 with 5 speed and its awesome.
LONG STORY:
After I lock the clutch up, and begin to really give it some gas in 1st gear, sometimes it pins me back in my seat, and sometimes I get horrible wheel hop as I just exceed the grip of the STOCK tires. I ran a search on "wheel hop" and found that some people have changed or modified their rear motor mount. To be honest I am really not familiar with FWD suspension, but If this modification would really help me, I will do it.
SHORT VERSION:
If I stiffen my rear engine mount; when my front tire(s) break loose, will they still hop like the easter bunny, or will they stay planted?
Awesome Forum!
Thank You,
Jeff

stiffening the rear mount might be the single best (definitely easiest) way to reduce wheel hop. I put the TRZ "dog bone" rear mount on my ms3 and that cured any serious wheel hop i had.

I agree. For $100 you cant beat it. You get a lot better shifting and less wheel hop. There are a few more vibrations (you can search for more info) but it's really not bad at all! It also makes the car sound a little louder/meaner.
I absolutely love mine!

The new M3s have wheel hop? Hows the V8 in that thing feel?

Sorrry Im not down with the lingo! My friends call it an M3.
I wish I had an M3, but I get twice the gas mileage; they are only getting 14 mpg!!!! Sounds like I will get a TRZ mount when I get some cash, that way I could always change it back if something happens to the motor.
This car handles pretty crisp, Is wheel hop an issue in most stock FWD Cars?
Im also a huge fan of Top Gear Sierra
Thanks

Actually the M3's do get wheel hop. I experience it quite often if I lay on the gas. Not sure why it seems so surprising to ya?

I'm pretty sure most cars get wheel hop. I had worse wheel hop in my 350z than I've gotten in the speed yet.
