hey dudes and dudettes. I keep seeing all these crazy fast times that people are running in the quarter mile, but they're all running slicks. I think if you're running on slicks, you should be more concerned with consistency than the ET. Anyway, what is your fastest time on street tires? I'm getting my first oil change soon and I'll be at the track the following Friday. Wondering what to expect.

my run was on street tires.

12.90 @ 111.xx with a 2.01 60' foot time.
Tires were Bridgestone blizzaks 215 55 16 winter tires lol

i ran a WICKED SICK RUN!! 15.1 at 97mph...lol, talking to the experts though...driver311 said one of the secrets is to shift at 56k-57k instead of
65k wich is what i was doing.... i thoguht shifting at 65k was correct apparently not

i think ive got a decent luanch down, driver said that when he was stock he was trapping 95mph shiftin at 65k , then when he started shifting at 56k his traps went up to 100mph stock... i'm heading back out to the trtack to test this

yea, hence the reason i wanna go 11s on the 26x9.5.x16s that are in the mail(shady)

the 60 wasnt horrible, the 1-2 shift was a waste, the 2-3 was half a waste lol. If i can realy shoot out the hole and get a low 1.7 and rip through 2nd hard, i see low 12s the way it sits right now.

Nail those shifts and get a good hole shot, and I'd give you 12.5. Low 12's on slicks, MAYBE just break into the 11's.

I'll be interested to see new numbers when you hit the strip again.

I'll be interested to see new numbers when you hit the strip again.Actually, lemme revise this. With the power you're putting down, to you have to stay out of WOT in second or even third to keep the tires from spinning in your run? If not, slicks may not help your final time or trap much at all.

If you're traction limited I could see slicks helping you maybe a half second, cutting your 60ft by 2 or 3 1/10ths.

im running 235/40/18 they really grip, at the track if i drop the clutch at 3k the car leaps like an evo, no wheelspin... followed by a loud wallop to the drive train and the sensation that the clutch is possibly melting...afer that worried that something would break i was easier at luanch wich probably hurt my next couple of attempts.

I haven't run the quarter in a front wheel drive car in probably 4 years, and never in a front wheel drive with any power. should be interesting.

ease the clutch out at around 2k then nail it and shift at 56k this is the formula accoring to driver311 and a guy in a speed at the track running 13.8 on stock boost

i shift into 5th before the 1000 ft mark. I finish at around 5600ish in 5th...i think, but im deep deep into 5th. As for the track, ill be going in march.
So far i cant go wot in 1st or 2nd and cant power shift 3rd cause it spins to much. If i can got wot in 1st, lift a lil for 2nd and go wot and then keep it at wot through 5th, i see my 1.7 which is .3 faster to the 60 turning into an easy .6-.8 up top. When i say 2nd gear is waste, i mean im either heading towards the wall or towards the center line banging of the rev limiter.....its that bad.

I can feather out the hole on any tire and get a decent 2.0 on street tires. However on the 1-2 shift i can't get myself to feather for the life of me, my mind just tells my foot step on it....lol

about 6300-6400

put it this way, my 4-5 shift is directly at 100-102 mph, and i end at 111, so picking up roughtly 10mph in 5th, it takes a good 2-3 seconds

02-05-2008, 01:40 PM
Yea, if you're that traction limited in low gears I can see better tires or slicks putting you into low 12's, maybe high 11's. You'll be trapping around 115, and 5 mph is a big jump over a 1/4, but if you're spinning that much it's probably doable with just better rubber.

I haven't run the quarter in a front wheel drive car in probably 4 years, and never in a front wheel drive with any power. should be interesting.

Just watch out for wheelhop and the inevitable shifter vagueness that comes from the aggressive movement of the engine while launching. I launched twice and both times it felt like my engine broke out of its mounts.

Oddly enough, two weeks later while driving down the road, it DID.
