Since my crappy stock h/u died (again) I decided to just go ahead and purchase a double din nav h/u right now I am looking at the Pioneer AVIC-D3 and the Panasonic Strada CN-NVD905U.

The Panasonic is Hard-Drive based for nav which is very nice and the Pioneer is DVD based (and yes i have read the review on the pioneer on the forum i did search first).

http://reviews.cnet.com/car-gps-navigation/panasonic-strada-cn-nvd905u/4505-3430_7-32450650.html (Strada)

Any help on which one you guys feel would be the better option both for value and features would be a great help

I've alaways had better luck with panasonc products. Might just be my personal experiences, but anytime i got anything "NEW" from pioneer its always ends up breaking/malfunctioning.

Out of these two. The Panasonic is the better choice.

Hardrive compared to disc. 2volt preamps compared to 1.7

7 band EQ compared to 3. 7" screen compared to 6.1".

ok sweet now i am going to add one more to this the Kenwood dNX7100 info found here.. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?search=DNX7100&i=113DNX7100 it seems to have the best navigation functions which is kinda important to me and is kinda a combo of the 2 because it has 2gb built in for nav functions (so no dvd based nav disc)

it is def between one of these 3 units I think it is narrowed down between the kenwood and the Panasonic unless u guys think the Avic D3 is a better choice

I think I changed my mind again because i have heard there is a lot of problems with the blackbird 2 and i guess that navigation function is just ok.. so I think i am leaning toward the eclipse avn5510 or 6620 (new model) both are great units both have 2 drives so you can use the DVD based nav and play a cd at the same time. The 6620 has dual zone dvd so it has 2 dvd drives and you can be using nav on the lcd screen up front and if u have monitors in the back they can be playing a dvd movie (I am sure I will NEVER use this as i don't want any more monitors in my car other than the all in one nav unit in dash) Only other thing is 6620 offers traffic updates via siruis which i will never pay for...

I just installed the D3 in the car last night.....sigh..10hr job lol. Didn't finish til 5am or so hahahaha.

So far so good though. Only negative so far is that iPod video controls. You have to use the ipod itself to control the video. NAV has been good so far. Sound from it is better than my alpine IVA-c300. (running jl 300/4 +500/1)
So many features that its kinda overwhelming lol.

$200 rebate going on with the D3 right now!

I got mine before rebate at etronics.com $655 shipped with iPod cable. Use Google check out for the 5% discount.

I ended up, today, installing an Eclipse AVN-6620 and I absolutely love it. I have played around with a lot of the features and needless to say I am very pleased. The navigation functions are excellent turn by turn voice navigation through the driver side speaker only is an awesome function, also the unit has ipod hook-up bluetooth and two dvd disc drives so u can leave the nav map disk in one of the drives and still have the flexibility to put a movie or cd in the other drive. For anybody looking for a dual din all in one unit i couldn't recommend this anymore and I looked at EVERY unit before making my decision. Install also looks great using a metra kit I would be more than happy to snap pics/video for anybody that wants to see more on the kit
