I have a 2007 Mazda 3 GT sedan and have been thinking about adding a factory spoiler. What do you guys think? Spoiler or no spoiler? Thanks in advance.

My wife's has the ducktail spoiler and I think it's a nice compromise between a little sportier looks and rear-vision/boy racer.

the more I look at my 3, I am beginning to think that I may actually like it without the spoiler just as much as with. They're just aren't a lot of 3 sedans without spoilers around where I live, so it kind of makes it look different. At this point, I think I'll hold off for a bit at least until after I get my tint this spring/summer. If it looks nice enough after the tint, I probably won't risk the hole drilling and I'll forgo the spoiler.

i think if you could get a lip spoiler instead of an actual spoiler it would add something without adding something if you get me...
BMW sells lip spoilers....actually better example....the mazima has a lip spoiler that just hangs on the end of the trunk and it looks sweet.

Anyone got realworld pics of the mazda3 sedan with the OEM OEM style lip (spoiler). Galaxy gray pics would be perfect. I have heard from some people that no drilling is required and from others that you do have to drill.

I was in the same position...until I woke up one morning...ran to my car, had a good look at it, and decided that it looks pretty good without...not too many around without a spoiler, save the money for something else. Shortshifter or CAI.

Drilling is REQUIRED. There is no other way to mount that spoiler.

Just get a completely stock one, and black out the lights in the back end.

Go onto Ebay I picked mine up with it already installed but I've seen them on ebay before.
I am not sure about the wiring for it if you do it aftermarket though, but depending on the car color look into blacking out all those silly red reflectors it gives the car a different look. I didn't have them done when I took the pics but I'll show you the difference if you want. It gives the back end of the car a a clean look.

I like it both with and without. I wouldn't spend the money to put it on unless you are totally determined to have a spoiler. The entire silhouette of the 3 is kind of rounded, which makes me lean towards no spoiler. They always remind me of ladybugs, esp. the red ones.

I thought about this as well.....can't decide really, ebay has a few spoilers too....I actually like the spoiler on the new mitsubishi lancers...not bad.

Not really liking that spoiler at all. A lil bit too ricey. I went to the dealer and checked out the vehicles on lot - spoiler, lip, and no spoiler. To be completely honest, they all look pretty good. I kinda thought I would really like the lip spoiler. I thought it was okay in person. I would prefer something less substantial like what Audi uses (think RS6 or RS4) or even the new Pontiac G8 (and I HATE pontiacs). I just want a little ridge on the rear deck, I guess. Not sure if anyone makes something like that.

I think I found one.
Anybody got an idea how this would look on a 3 sedan?

Also wondering on the durability with the 3M tape. I do like the idea of no drilling, though.

Ehhh I like the way the stock one comes on it, with the 3rd brake light.
I've had 3m tape on my eyelids, and that I heated up the strip before I put it on.
Another spoiler I had I forgot to heat it up and it didn't stay on worth a damn.

my understanding is that the OEM lip spoiler only has a cut out to go around the factory 3rd brake light which is integrated into the rear trunk. Only on the Mazda6 does the spoiler integrated a 3rd brake light.

I like the way it looks with the third brake light, in that ebay one you posted I didn't see it. Did it have it ?

Are we talking the wing or the lip spoiler when you say factory spoiler?
