i am a nissan enthusiast preparing to make the switch over to mazda. this company seems to have a better vision on motosports. so i am looking at buying a ms3 at the end of 08, so the 09 should be at the dealership by then. does anyone have any info regarding the 2009? don't get me wrong i will buy a ms3 08 just wondering if there is any development on differences coming in 09 if any. thanks guys...keep posting info on your experiences. there arent any plans of making an 09....
Mazdaspeed vehicles are usually a 2 year type of thing.
08.5 is the last planned year for the ms3.

My prediction is that Mazda may chnage their decision due to the amount of competition is currently out there. They would be stupid to stop so abruptly and not have a car to compete.

thanks for the quick notes...i may have to pick one of these bad boys up sooner than later before the well runs dry.

Competition or not....Mazdaspeed vehicles are limited-run. The MS Miata always has competition but that hasn't stopped them from halting production after the run was complete. I'd venture to predict the next MS3 you'll see will be in a new body style around 2012.

man i sure hope you guys are right about a few of them floating around when i am ready to buy. at 23k brand new you just can't beat this car. i have to have room to carry my two boys in, satisfy my speed craving, handle track days, etc...i don't have too many other good options in the sport compact segment. don't want a wrx for so many reason i can't list and the new si's and specv's are just not fast enough or grown up enough for my lifestyle. i may buy two ms3's just incase one breaks or gets totaled...just kidding. the point is the manufactures are just not building cars for the 5% of the folks 30 yrs old and family that still like to keep there set of balls even though they are technically gone. thanks for listening

Oh man .. I hear ya. The ONLY reason that I got this past my life planner is that the car is a hatch, which equals practical in her eyes. I also pointed out the integrated child seat anchors in the rear seat just to push her over the edge.

I am not sure about the look of the new Mazda 3 but I sure hope they get smart and put the new sync system in all new ford affiliated cars ie the 3! That would blow sales through the roof!

Man you're sooo right! I really like hatches, but I like them more in 2 doors, depending on model. But when you're a family man, 4 doors is basically the only way to go. That's why I love my ms3.

But look it on the bright side. Before 2002, we barely had any options for decently fast 4 door cars. Now we have wrx/sti, evo, srt4, ms3/ms6, gti/gli.

well owning a ms3 and becoming a part of the mazda community has happened sooner than I had planned...courtesy of the guy who pulled out in front of me this monday. I will be on my way Friday to Paretti Mazda in Metarie, LA hopefully in the next couple days to scoop up a black one. Trying to buy back my SER, so she can continue on her quest to my road racing car\trailer queen.

Aw man, thats a shame about the SER, I just made the switch to the ms3 from a 2001 sentra se, It was the last year they used the rock solid sr20de motor. I miss the sentra, I did suprisingly well with it at the autocross, but i'm glad I made the switch. The ms3 really is better all around. Can't wait to autocross for the 1st time with it. Less than two weeks away!

I guarantee there will be some form of Speed3 in 2009. With all of the accolades and popularity of this vehicle, production will continue. We'll just have to wait to see what they have in the works.

jeeeez guys how many threads are we gonna have on this...

to the OP, sorry about the SER, but glad to see your going to rebound into an ms3, nice choice!

i would probably hold of on the guarantees for now because most authorities on the subject are agreeing with mazda's original statement that this car will be a 2 year run only, its end of life indicated by the mid year refresh (08.5). It has also been said that the next speed vehicle will probably be a DISI Miata. The fact that mazda is reshaping the 3 in 2010 should also be a good indicator that this car is done until after the 3 is refreshed next year (watch for it in the paris autoshow)

i just wanted to put in my 2 cents. out of curiosity i check the mazda dealer locate system to see what cars they had listed to search for. i actually used this and broke the news on an rx8 forum about the r-tuned model. they all called me a troll then i took a picture of the page and showed them all. under the 2009 model year it does show the mazda 3 sedan, hatch, and mspeed3. this does not mean it will be builtfor sure, but they do have it listed. it also did not show any changes. as soon as the dealer spec deck updates online i will let everyone know. haha i can see what color the new 6 is coming in if anyone cares!

Life planner = wife? If not, then wow. Just wow.

What he is really trying to say is that he opted for the possibility of regular sex in exchange for never making another important decision in his life by himself. Isn't that how we all got married?

here it is...so far the ride, feel, and power is top notch. i feel confident in the choice. thanks for posting all of your experiences to help aid my choice. thinking hard about that set of mazdaspeed forged wheels. are they worth their 1900 price tag?

IMO there are other, far less expensive wheels that look great (better) on the MS3...most notably the RX-8 wheels. If it were my MS3, I'd be shopping around for some really nice, low mileage RX-8 take-offs and end up saving a bunch of money. Other than being forged, I see nothing extraordinary about the MS wheel.

my goal is losing a little weight not necessarily the looks. the mazdaspeed's 18's are 18lbs...that's phenomenal. has any one weighed the stocks without tires?
