I used to own a stage 2 06 rex. Now i have a 08 speed3. no questions asked bro, Right choice and welcom to the family. First thing you should do is take out the 2 resonators and install boost guage. If you have money left over buy a mazda speed cai. Boost guage also. Truly amzing car man. I love mine so much.

very nice! congrats on your purchase.
You gonna mod it or leave it stock for a while?
Being that you used to be a subby owner, are you excited about the accessport coming out for the speed3?

Im gonna try SOOO hard to keep this stock...the fact my WRX had mods really hurt me on trade in.
Plans so far:
DEFI boost Amber 60mm
DEFI CU
Tint
Cobb springs
Cobb sways
THEN CALL IT A DAY!
I do think its cool that COBB is supporting the MS3, but i dunno if I will spring for the AP. Time will tell haha

gotta go for a motor mount and cobb sri - only adds about $275 to your list and will be the best $275 spent on the car

+1
if i had to keep things as stock as i could, these are the two things i would actually do. i wouldn't go for a whole new mount, though...just the corksport inserts...=d

ya, good choice on the cobb stage 2 suspension...mine gets here today (springs) and monday (sways)! (alright)
where are you going to mount the boost gauge, btw? if you want to mount anything on the steering column, you may want to consider the 52mm gauge, because it fits pretty darn well on there! =d

Add a bypass valve in with that.

Does the motor mount or the inserts make the car shake at idle? Also, how difficult of an install is this or how much does it cost to have someone install it? Sounds like an expensive mod if you don't DIY.

Any reason not to get the AP? I had one for my old 02 WRX. Are you just wanting to keep it stock for warranty reasons, or you are happy with the stock power.

I would never buy a car that has been modified. Ever.
Mods+ young person = abuse.
My suggestions is to leave it stock.

Yup Ive been a junkie for 3 years or so now...Still gonna hang out with them. Im from San Diego.
I really like how the MS3 feels VS when i had the WRX and was always looking for a way to make it different. It is a boring car in stock form. The MS3 really amazes me, so I wont be doing much to it. I'm also turning 25 next month and starting to want a reliable car that looks good and performs without me dropping tons of cash into it.
However!!! I love RPF1's so I may be putting a set of 18's on the MS3

Welcome to the dark side. I've notice something with the Speed3s. There seems to be quite the exodus of both Subaru and BMW drivers to the Mazdaspeed3.

don't want to threadjack and there are plenty of threads out there, but I'll answer as I feel the OP may be interested as well
The motor mount I have (trz poly) has a slight increase in vibration at idle with a/c on. I actually like the slight vibration, actually makes the car feel a little more powerful. But between breaking it in and getting used to the feel, I rarely notice it, if at all. Motor mount runs about $100, and it took me about 5 min to install. If you have a jack/stands or ramps, its as easy as removing 2 bolts. I actually didn't have a jack available for mine so I straddled a ditch and slid underneath my car. Don't pay someone to do it, its esier than an oil change

good to see another WRX convert!
I came from a modded 04 WRX (parted out before I traded it in)
There is no way you are gonna be able to keep that MS3 stock--
I lasted a whole month before I modded mine.
just save all your stock parts and put it back to stock before you trade it in. Thats what I did with my wrx...you couldn't tell it was ever modded.

I started a thread a while back because it seemed like a lot of WRX guys were trading in for the MS3

The gauge is a little too big to fit on teh column. Im gonna find a nice OEM-ish way to mount it. Not sure yet though.

thats cool to get a awjunkie on here! Also good to see more SPEED's here in SD. There's alot of MS3's running around here and very few MS6's. I've been wanting to gather up some peeps and do a little mini meet. Head over to the the MOCC.com forums also... its Mazda Owners Club of CALI.
Where in SD are you located? Im in Otay Ranch/Paradise Hills area...

Glad you could make it, we are glad to have you I'm sure. And best luck with the limited modification theory. El Barto is wise in these matters and speaks much truth.
