Hi, I have a 2001 protege MP3 edition. Im hoping a couple people who also own mp3's will see this but I guess it doesnt matter since the 2.0 liter engine came in alot of proteges. My question is how much can these cars take. Mine is at 118,500k, should I be worried about engine life? And does any one know if these things hold up to the abuse of racing? I use only the best, "Royal Purple" in the tranny and motor. But again if anyone with any info or experience let me know, especially if you have one and ocassionally beat the crap out of it, drive it like you stole it ect.

dont know about engine life, but no dont race with it, they werent built for it to be abused, they were like a sportier version of those es dx etc. just looks better with a better ecu(i think)... not even msp's should be abused, seen all those problems, leaks here and there, fuel cut, fuel cut and fuel cut... weak wga, weak lsd, all that stuff

edit: btw if you looking to keep your car, and wants more power, the highboost turbo kit might be for you, but then again any turbo kits are for people that knows what they're doing... its your car dude, i say you baby it and yea take good care of it

does it burn oil? have you owned it from day one, if not did the previous owner keep up with everything and not beat on it? have you done a compression test and leak down test?

if you want to blow the engine beat the piss out of it. if you want longevity baby it.

lol @ drive it like you stole it
