since i got my msp a few monthes ago, lil by lil i have been getting all sorts of attention from all the wrong types of people...and its not the kind of attention u would want for having a car like ours and im thinking its time to invest in a better alarm system because the factory one just doesnt seem like it will cut it any more

what kind of systems are you guys trusing your pride and joy with?

any particular systems to stay away from?

I have the factory alarm...
it works well, too well.
anyone know how to turn the sensitivity down?

as far as aftermarket alarms, my girl has prestige alarm system and its pretty good. Kinda annoying sometimes like mine though.

to turn the sensitivty down under your dash theres a lil grey box i believe and on it is a white nob i think you can turn the sensitivty down til you're satisfyed, i left mine at factory setting cause i enjoy it going off in the middle of the night wakeign up my entire appartment complex :)

I dumped the factory alarm the first month I got it and picked up a compustar 2-way alarm and remote starter. It tells me whats going on with the car and you get a turbo timer + tons of other little features to boot

so it has a built in turbo timer?
i saw a viper system with that and a few other feature i really liked
like the long range, code hopping feature, and the aux buttons that let u hook it up to your trunk release and shit like that
any body have a viper?

the compustar has the same stuff, check the pro models out...some really good stuff, plus there is a GPS transmitter that you can add on to the system for even more goodies + an insurance rebate

Yeah, depending where you live (I know its true where I live) if you have a basic alarm you get like a 5%-10% cut, good alarm (w/ perimeter alarms, etc...) get a bit more than that. then you can go get the GPS locater (like the Boomerang or onStar to a lesser extent) they will give you more back. And if you get an immobilizer installed...well they'll love you for it and give you more off.

The total amount depends on where you live, what car, who your insured with, blah blah blah....you get the idea

where i live you get a discount if you have low jack put on your car...i havn't done that yet. to be honest don't really plan on it

oh and its a black box with a white nob that you turn down your sensitivity like i said before but its easy to find if you look under your steering wheel if you havn't found it yet or would like a picture i'd be happy to post one

yea about the alarm ... I bought one and want to install it but i have a problem >> i cant use remote start function ;( in order for that function to work i need to disconnect an original immobilizer system ... anyone knows how to do that or where to find the immobilizer control unit- maybe then i could just cut it off :D

The protege doesn't have an immobilizer, there is only a safety on the clutch...you can connect the starter wire to the yellow wire on the connector side of the contact behind the clutch, when you hold down the clutch it will connect the circuit to the starter but by connecting the starter wire to the clutch safety you effectively bypass the safety, just don't forget to leave the car in neural

no I think you r wrong >> it might be that it isn't the immobilizer but if you take cover which is around all light, indicator levers you'll c a little plastic thing on the ignition lock with mitsubishi logo on it and a small black box under the steering wheel which also has the same logo - and if disconect any of them the starter doesn't even try to start the engine>> i checked for that safety on the clutch and didn't find anything >> can it be because my car is European version ????
I'm from Ireland if what ....
