ok so when i bought my msp about 3 to 4 monthes ago, it had alread had CAI installed and to further boost the effectiveness of the CAI the previous owner cut the splash gaurd wich is connected to the wheelwell liner.......fast forward til now.......i ordered the splashgaurd at young mazda (big mistake) since its the closest mazda dealership to my house but now i think the idiot at the parts counter might mave sold be the wrong spashgaurd cuz it just doesnt fit...

do the MSP have larger wheel wells than base model proteges?
could he have ordered me a spash gaurd from a base model protege of the same year?

please help!!!!!

to my knowledge the body is the same, besides a bumper and stuff, so it should fit IMO, i dont know if the Protege5's are the same or not, i think they are cause the fount of the cars are the same. but i would call the dealership up and ask them, they should know at least, but if you cant find anything, and its bigger than what you need, modify it till it fits -.^

well......the splash gaurd lined the inside of the wheel wells with no problem
until i had to fit the front of it unerneith the front of the bumper where it would cover the CAI....but its too narrow and short and doesnt completely cover the opening......its too small
but i am going to call up the dealership first thing in the morning
and see....IMO, if you are going buy anything from the dealership that supposed to be especially for your car, better not need any modifications lol
especially no 65 dollar splash gaurd

Have them double check the part number for you. Thats something they could easily do for you over the phone

they probably sold you a regular ES splash guard, which is smaller than a MSP, tell them that it should be the same as the protege5s.

yup..thats exactly the one the guy ordered
new splash gaurd should be in tomorrow
...not too happy that its going to cost 25 dollars more on top of the 63 dollars he credited me when i brought back the other one tho
