Warning beep on after key removed

I have an issue with my 06 M3 when after I remove the key, open the driver door and ensure lights are off that the warning beep is still on. Closing the door silences the beeping. The remote is inoperative as well. If I play with the switch cyclinder by stabbing the key in and out at the top portion then the warning beep disppears and the remote entry works again. It sounds like a key cyclinder problem, what do you think ?

if it were me i'd take it to the dealer and let them figure it out

very weird that you mention this, because the same exact thing happened to me last thursday. I was totally confused, and i still have no idea why it happened. The beep threw me for a loop, but then when the remote didnt work as I was walking away I knew something was wrong. I went back in the car, turned it on to the "ON" position then took the key out as normal. After that everything worked fine and I havent had the problem since.

Let me know if they dealer tells you anything.

no its the same beep that the car makes when you leave the key in the ignition and open the door. tpms light wasnt on, plus that beep is much quieter

My Tire Sensor beep is pretty loud. Sounds like a faulty ignition switch than.

hmmm...my car doesn't even have a tpms beep...just a yellow light that flashes for a few seconds than stays on.

Sounds like the switch inside the ignition cylinder isn't closing when you remove the key. Could need a little lube, or could need replacing. It depends on if the switch is just sticky, or has somehow been damaged. I say take it in.

figures.... when i take my car to the dealer I ask them to check for TSB's and recalls, they say theyre all taken care of. grr

AND the cold weather CEL is coming back on again, i guess that recall didnt really get fixed

I have same problem my M3 2005. Light warning beep sound is on and meter lights stay on. Door is closed and key out, beep is silent but meter backside light stay on. Remote key control working ok.

I have had this exact same problem with my 08, it has happened 3 times now.
