It ran fine until one day it wouldn't start. Any other symptoms leading up to the no start?

We need more history on the car. Make, model, drive train? As Fudgie asked were their any prior systems to it not running? Did you do any maintence to it and then it stopped running? Have you tested the battery? Checked all the connections?
Edit: I want to say it looks like a mx-6

well its a 93 Mazda Mx6 LS mtx... im the third owner... and the guy before me took great care of it.. no doubt about it... well whats goin on is he use to have a turbo kit on it... and the last thing before it wouldnt start was that it was starting to over heat... his friend took the car out to figure out why it was over heating... and 30 mins later he got a call from the guy saying hey the car didnt over heat it just stopped working... the starter would kick out and try to turn it over but the engine just wouldnt start like it wasnt getting fuel or spark... well since i got it home... Ive changed the battery, Disty, Plugs, Wires, and CAS/CPS.... now it cranks over and trys to start but just doesnt turn on and stay on... i know i have compression, i know i have spark, i know i have fuel, but the bastard just wont turn on! well one of my friends thats a mechanic for Mazda called me this morning after watching the vids i have on here and told me it has to be the Timing... so tonight im gonna redo the timing and if that doesnt work im gonna go insane...

Timing, as in timing belt? Possibly, was it done before you bought it? You can simply check the timing marks. If you don't know what they are, refer to a Chiltons, or ask :)
Overheating huh... How bad did it overheat? There is a slight possibly of a head gasket failure. That will cause the overheating (or was caused by overheating) and will allow coolant into the cylinders, preventing the motor from starting. Pull the plugs, look in the cylinders, report back.

already pulled the plugs to check and no they arent fouled by coolant... and ive already checked the gaskets... and there isnt any signs of blown gaskets...

They may not show signs of being fouled by coolant if they've been recently replaced as you stated.
You must look IN the cylinders to see if there is coolant leaking into any of them.

I'd also get a sniff test done on the coolant to see if any gasses have gotten into the coolant... Although I think you may need it running to get an accurate result.
So if it was turbo'd.. has that now been removed and reverted to stock? If so, what about the ecu... as it would need to be running a very modified one like a megasquirt to get the mappings sorted to run the engine with those mods. Reverting back to stock, will require a stock ecu or new mappings for the custom ecu and most probably adjustments to the timing and ignition system.
I have no personal experience of turbo setups though, just what I've researched and what friends have done.

Was he using a Megasquirt system?
If not, and if no changes were made to the wiring harness or ECU, that should not prevent it from starting, as long as something in that system hasn't flat failed.

nah i found what happened.... the tensioner broke... it jumped timing by ALOT! i could pull the belt off with my fingers.... but o well... im getting a new tensioner in the morning and hopefully i can show for the mx6 meet we are having here in dallas...

Fingers crossed no internal damage has been done... as there is a lot of conflicting information over whether these engines are non-interference or not. Some think it may be down to a difference between KLZE and KLDE engines due to the different pistons.

i have yet to see any damage from valve to pistion contact on the KL motors here. the new tensioner and have it timed up and she should be running like new!!!

Agrreed, I've had friends who didn't tighten the crank pulley properly, causing it to back off on the freeway, engine revving 3500rpm...it would be way too much dumb luck to NOT bend a valve on an interference motor in those conditions.

Old thread I know, but if the fan issue is still a problem, try adjusting the TPS as that's often the cause.
