I'd think there would be a limiter to prevent you from doing that.

sounds like an over-rev on downshift? how does the engine sound right now? if you don't really feel any difference as far as roughness or shaking, i wouldn't worry about it. i've heard of a number of people over-revving and not being any worse for the wear. as long as you don't let it stay over-revved for too long, it's not usually a prob, i think.

well then i was seeing shit? i was pretty drunk and may have thought i saw it go higher. the limiter would prevent us from going over the redline right? which is 6.5k? the car feels fine. i jsut noticed a extra wierd noise from the engine but it could be paranoia

wait...so did it over-rev from just pinning at redline in gear? if so, i definitely would worry too much about it, because the electronic rev limiter won't really let you hurt yourself in that case. when do you hear this extra weird noise you think you hear? all the time? oO

That was my question. Sounds like a recipe for disaster...kinda lucky if all you got was scared.

your an idiot, people like you are the reason inocent peoples lives are ruined. I wish you destroyed your car so that you wouldnt be able drive drunk anymore. On top of it all you come on the forums openly admitting how much of an asshole you are like you did nothing wrong. Sorry to be the mom in this situation but your just a grade a fuckbag. ontop of the pottential for you to injur or kill someone, people like you are the reason our car gets alot of crap and no respect from other drivers. youre gunna turn this into something like an srt4 community.

dude the only way it would over rev is if you shifted down to low and the gear forced the engine passed the rev limiter, otherwise the rev limiter kicks in at like 7100 rpm. if you went to 7500 or 8k its no big deal thats not going to hurt it i wouldn't think. There are stock evo's rutinely reving to 9500 to 10k, i mean stock internals, but they are modded to let them rev higher.

How can you tell if you messed up your motor?

hole in block
engine knock
burning oil
loss of power

How can people on a forum tell if you messed up your motor? Easy, we can't.
If you can't tell with the car being right there, how can people from the internet tell?

Lastly, and this goes without saying, driving drunk is 100% avoidable and completely selfish. Those people who tend to react harshly toward you in response to your actions know just how bad your actions can be.
I think you'll catch a lot of shit over it when you post about it in such a cavalier manner. Frankly, I think you deserve it.

FWIW, I was hit head on by a 19 year old in 2001 who ran after the accident. He was later caught and blew double the legal limit. I bet he didn't think he was going to crash either. I wasn't seriously hurt.

There is no excuse for drunk driving! Very irresponsible! (braindead(notcool) Your lucky all you did was possibly damage your car. Hopefully lesson learned.

just kidding, i just drink beer anyways that doesn't get me drunk and I only drink at nite at home. I don't like driving if i'm a little tipsy, I don't even like getting out at night. I like to hang out watch tv drink brew and then eat a huge meal and then crash..

BTW no rev limeter will stop a mechanical over rev.
i did the same thing, i wouldnt worry at all as long as the car still runs and idles fine, you either break it or you dont.

the car runs fine and idle feels the same, just a wierd noise that i hear now thats very minor but im sure im being paranoid. our engines click like a bitch to begin with.

- mechanical over rev? is that when u downshift into the rpm? my case was misshift and revd up
