BMW NA loses 370+ cars because of a tipped cargo ship at port in Jersey city. 70 of the cars are total losses.

Majority of the destroyed vehicles were brand new E92 ///M3s. Shipping company's insurance co. is footing the bill.

If the ballast system gets screwed up, it's going to tip. Doesn't matter if it's moving or not.

Being serious, it looks sad. Oh well Mazda, you are not alone anymore.

Hmmm, Are the wheels for sale? :D

Seems as though the cars will have the same fate as those aboard the Couger Ace...the crusher. :(

The last sentence is a bit frighting, however.

"Those cars with light damage will be repaired at the Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold through BMW’s dealer network as new cars. Might want to spring for the CARFAX this time."

I'm sure BMW will notify potential buyers of this issue. Plus they are insured, so the money is in already. Regardless, it will piss-off those original buyers who were waiting for their delivery.

Note: Minor freight scratch, front bumper, repaired under warranty by authorized BMW dealer

Damn!!!!!! That is the same ship that brought over my daughter's 2007 Mini CooperS. I feel for the people's who's BMWs those were. I was able to track the ship all the way across the pond and got really excited when it got into port. Only to find out that your car got damaged over here, would really suck. I sure hope you have the right to refuse buying a damaged car.

These cars will not be sold to anyone. BMW will ship them back to Germany and recycle them.

I work at bmw north america some of these cars were coming to us to process. It is going to be a slow work week. they could only salvage 300 cars.
