Pics and story reveal Mazda is possibly considering another go at the MS6 with this concept destined to make it's stage debut at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon. No news on what engine will power the next MS6 if it's produced but logic would suggest continued development of the DISI MZR 4 cylinder over the 275 hp 3.5l V6 currently used in the CX-9. It's gotta be a turbo. I can't imagine they would try round 2 for the MS6 and make it NA. That V6 will probably go to the standard 6 and the MS6 2.0 will get a bump to at least 300hp. My guess anyway.

Of course they could turbo-charge the V6. How well does a V6 respond to turbo-charging? I know Renault and Ferrari have tried to race turbocharged V6s in the past with poor results. The Ferrari 126C had massive turbo lag and poor balance, but that is more the fault of the chassis design and choice of turbo that anything else. And this was back in the early 80s.

Looks alot heavier. But it still looks sooo sexy. Lets hope they stick with this concept and not screw it up again.

And, if a 2.5 I4, and a 3.5l V6 will all be offered with the base car, and given that this car will prob weigh significantly more, and with increasing competition from the Altima SE-R (which may start to offer AWD soon), Audi's and the such, I would not be surprised to see a twin turbo 3.5l V6. It is already confirmed that Ford will make this engine for the next Lincoln fullsize car (MKS?), I think a "detuned" version might show up in the MS6.

I LOVE the looks of the car. turbo'ed v6s are great motors. The VG30DETT is a great motor. Just a little hard to work on since the engine compartment is so cramped. I wouldn't mind having a high revving N/A in the car. As long as it actually made power.

Mazda designers are great! Tough luck on the new Accord. I think all the designer should be fired. They are spinning the Accord as "bigger and better" now.

The pics show JDM Mazdaspeed parts for the Atenza. Jeebus, does anyone still practice journalism these days?

Such is life with concept cars. There are sooooo many concepts I would buy outright if they were put into production unchanged, but alas that is not the way the world works. :-(
