Hi all 08 Mazda5 owners,
Can you tell us what type of oil filter Mazda is using on the 08 Mazda5? Cartridge or the traditional style spin-on filter? Thanks

I think 08 is no different than the two previous years. It is cartridge type filter. You can see a pic of it at the following link:

Purolator now offers the cartridge filter for the Mazda5. You can get it cheap on Amazon.

The cartridge filter is not as rare as one would think. I was wandering around a Wal-Mart the other day and looked out of curiosity and it was in stock as a FRAM. I have been reading about filters and generally the WIX/NAPA were said to be of higher quality, so I will have to check there next.

I buy mine at NAPA all the time. It is always in stock.
