Beeping sound under hood

Has anyone else experienced a high pitched beep coming from (which sounds like) under the hood AFTER you turn off the engine? It sounds roughly every 10 - 15 seconds, and is only noticable when I'm in my garage and its very quiet.

Probably the exhaust cooling down, very normal.

hmmm....weird because it sounds so "electrical" rather than what I would expect cooling metal to sound like....but you're probably right...thanks.

So a fellow Minnesotan........are you also driving a speed 3? If so I hope you've replaced those summer tires!

Yes I have. I put on Dunlop Graspic's and some 17" rims a few days after I got it. Where are you located?

I have heard the same beeping noise from both my MS3 and my girlfriends 2.3 Mazda3, I think it is totally normal.

yeah I have heard it on my ms3 many times, no clue what it is but I am sure it's totally normal. And no it's not metal cooling its something electrical. Maybe the throttle body closing or something who knows?

It is the computer running some diagnostics. If the vehicle is very hot after shutdown, the computer tells the fans to keep running. If the car is not very hot, it just makes it's weird noise for about 10-15 seconds and calls it a day.

Northwest Twin Cities......but work in the Minnetonka area. I ended up with some Hankooks snow tires from Discount Tire.......I was really surprised at how bad those summer tires were in the snow........wow
