1989 323, non-turbo, 1.6L SOHC.
Shop manual gives the torque sequence only for the 3.0L which has four main bearings. Can anyone tell me what is the correct torque sequence for the crankshaft bearing caps on the 323 engine with five main bearings?

Apparently google is not my friend today....

Thanks and Best Regards,
T.

Heh, that *would* be something. No, sorry I wasn't clear. The manual covers all '89 Mazda models. I found torque sequences for two other 4-cyl engines on line (a Toyota and a Ford) and they both showed the same sequence, working from the center out toward the ends. That's what I would expect for the 323 engine as well, but thought I should check just in case there was something unusual going on.

Thanks and Best Regards,
T.
