This has kind of been an ongoing intermittent problem for the past few months. Sometimes when accelerating from a dead stop my car will seem to stall. It never cuts out but the RPM's seem to stick and not climb regardless of how far I'm pressing in the accelerator. This usually occurs for only a fraction of a second then it picks back up and drives normally. It happens randomly a few times a week at most. I noticed that it occurs most often when it rains or is humid out. Sometimes it's hard to start as well and it turns over to a lot of shaking and putting which gets louder and harder as I press on the gas. The past 2 months have been fine as neither case presented itself until yesterday when if had the same starting symptoms.

I've cleaned the throttle plate and lines as well as checked to make sure all intake and maf passages are clear. I changed out the fuel filter and it's been fine so far. Today while trying to diagnose it again I noticed that while it was shaking and sputtering the 2nd cylinder from the left was not firing. I also noticed the wire leading to that plug was grounding out and sparking at every ground that was within a mm of the wire. None of the other spark plug wires displayed this sparking. Then the engine finally cleared up and idled normally. However when I'd give it gas it would rev up erradically. This time the mentioned cylinder was firing but I noticed the same sparking symptom on the coil wire when the engine was revved up.

I'm planning to swap the plugs and wires tommorow as my tools are all at the shop but I was just hoping someone could provide some additional feedback if they got any. I know this read is long but I really can't think of any way to make it short as the symptoms are very erratic and intermittent as well.

I realize this was a while ago, but did changing the plugs and wires help? I'm guessing they did. Another thing to check is the distributor itself. My 1995 Altima had similar symptoms and it turns out the O-rings on the distributor were shot and oil was leaking into the cap, which as you can imagine caused a few problems.
