i made a thread earlier about ordering 16 fd rims from a rx7. i finally mounted them yesterday and i took some pictures this morning.

let me know what you think. i may need to repaint all of them because some scratches. and it appears that they are not powder coated like mazsport claimed, but its all good.
- there is still white lube from mounting the tires to rim, i havent washed my car yet

Not a bad look. When youre used to seeing 18s on the ms3, anything else seems tiny but those 16s look good. Keep the color dark and matte if you repaint them.
Why did you get 16s?... I know guys in the north who put snows on them.
What size/type of tire are you running? you should weigh this combo, stock wheel and tire is between 45 and 50 lbs. You could be at ~35 lbs!

yea i weighed the tire and rim it was about 37 lbs, so much lighter tho. i was helping my friend mount them and stuf and carrying the stockers then carrying the 16's it was suuuch a difference

- i got 16's because i guy i know has them on a black ms3 and i liked them, plus he said 13lbs

looks nice man - i bet the car handles and takes off much better with those things, too.

i think you're going to have to repaint them, though. maybe a gloss black? do you have plans of lowing that beast?

well if they weigh alot less than the stockers and you paint them...i say keep em on there. that unsprung weight can make a huge difference!

I think I'd have them glass beaded to clean them up then paint them. I'm curious about something. Can somebody with photoshop do the rims in True Red to match the car? I don't usually go for that look, but everybody seems to be going with black rims. This would be a great opportunity to try something different.

my thoughts exactly, i wasnt planning on getting black rims for my car but a good price and very light weight, thats y i did it. I want to get red lug nuts and i want to paint the center cap red and hand paint the old mazda symbol with a brush and chrome paint.

WHY?!

I know you answered the question but my mind keeps going back to "WHY?!"

The black matte powder coating looks less effective than a nice polished look IMHO.

Is it unsafe (crack, break) to use the 13 lbs. wheels? They made the newer wheels reinforced and thats why they are 19 lbs.

the reinforced ones are 16lb, but i wouldn't worry too much about the cracking. i have a friend who's still driving a '93 FD with the stock wheels for 160k+ miles...;) the '93s were the ones with the lighter wheels...94-95 had the reinforced ones...:D
