porsches use brembos with a zillion pistons in the calipers...we don't have brembos...^^;
be glad of it, though...our brakes would cost a zillion bucks to replace if they were! ours just get their braking power from brute rotor size...;)

Ms3 brakes are from the Volvo S60.

I do seem to remember some article that said the larger MS3 brakes were pulled from the Volvo catalog. There is a Mazda/Ford/Volvo connection.....

They do say FOMOCO Ford Motor Company on the calipers, Not the greatest "Feeling" brakes but they'll stop a car almost as fast as a Porsche. The Magazine was saying the brakes were as good as a Porsche's not from a Porsche.

I'll take my Porsche Ford brakes anyway, I heard a 911 Turbo's Brake Job at dealer is over 2 Grand. I'll bet with some Braided lines I can even get them too feel good, They'll never have great feel, to much electronics in there but I love the brakes on this car, problem is if you don't have everything nailed down in the car when u really use em, you ll lose everything sitting out, Thank god for our huge Glove Box!!!! I've learned to put all the little chargers and such i need in a fabric bag with many compartments to keep rattling down and to keep everything in place, like i said this car needs stuff tied down in corners and braking, hopefully soon accelerating also, though it ain't to shabby now.

The brakes are made by ATE (and FoMoCo (FORD)) - a big manufacturer in Europe. ATE also supplies brakes to Volvo and Audi and a few others. As for these front brakes - the pad is the same shape as the Volvo S60 but not the same thickness. They are also the same shape and thinkness as an Audi S4 v8 (2006+) but do not use the low pad sensor wires.
Cheers!

That would be FOMOCO which is ford motor company. Which is the brother company. of should we say sister since the Mustang Gt is maybe the closest thing to anything a speed3 has.

Another nonsense quote from C&D about the MS3. You have to be kidding me. My GTI with Audi TT brakes worked MUCH better than our brakes. You'd brake hard and your eyeballs would start to pop out. Not so with the MS3.
And, yes, I've driven a new 997 and, well, the brakes on the Porsche are on an entirely different level. Our brakes could use a LOT of work. (scratch)

hmmm lets see... for what quick research Ive done... 60-0 ft
2007 911 turbo ranges from 103-116ft depending on your source
2007/8 Mazdaspeed 3 ranges 111-116ft depending on source
2007 GTI 128-129ft depending on source
2006 Audi TT 119ft all sources.
Im quoting ranges from edmunds, autoweek, motortrend, caranddriver...
just because it doesnt "feel" like youre stopping quicker, doesnt mean you arent.
Now your GTI might have had better pedal feel and maybe less fade resistance, but numbers dont lie.
If anyone would like direct links please ask :)

I should have thrown in our brakes are very prone to fade. They were horrid when I brought the car to the track. But, your points are well taken!
PS: I wasn't referring to a 2007 GTI. It was a 2002 337 edition with TT brakes.

yeah I read about when you brought it to the track... Im guessing better brake lines, pads would aleviate most/all of the brake fade.

I'm hoping so. I actually bought all that shit months ago, but haven't had time/money to bring it to the dealer. No rush now, since it's winter.
I guess, also, the MS3 is heavier than my old car, so that always puts extra stress on the brakes and tires. Good thing I'm losing some weight. (breakn)
