I'm more interested in looks when it comes to lowering my cars. Not really into going to the drag strip to race....anyhow here are some pics of my recently lowered speed3 using Eibach Sportlines made for the conventional Mazda 3 since Eibach decided not to make springs for the speed3. I also installed an Injen Cold Air Intake and that's about all I'm gonna do to it.
Here are some pics....

True, i do have people in the car....I'll post some pics without them inside....but really, i can't even stick a finger above the tire, it's that low...

I go slow over the bumps, especially up my driveway. No rubbing on the tires...but yeah, I have to consider all those factors when I drive now...it's all good.

Funny, I noticed that too...it's doesn't look that way when it's passengerless...hmmm, I think it may be due to the nature of the slope on my driveway....i don't know.....
I once saw a dropped car with a logo sticker across his rear window that said "Too Low for Fat Hoes"....I thought that was funny...

Ive got eibach prokit springs in my 3MPS (mazdaspeed3 to you guys).
The ones i have are specific to the Mazda 3MPS, they are listed on the Eibachs European and Australian websites.
Ive attached a picture of the part number thats on the box and a couple of my car with the springs in.

i think the reason it looks lower in the back than the front is because the natural lines of the car are in that direction, people tell me that about my car all the time

Looks good! I used to have sportlines and I loved how they looked but I rubbed under aggressive driving (lots of fun roads in NC). Be careful, I'm pretty sure I blew my stock shocks while using the sportlines from Eibach. I think the drop might be too much for them. The handling got worse and worse and they started to squeak quite a bit, thats when I jumped ship to the MS Coilovers. Looks great though man, best of luck (thumb)

Thanks, I also have a 1991 VW Cabriolet that's got the sportlines, all my bumpers are scratched up but I don't really care. It looks great. I just scratched the rear bumper on the Speed3 but I look at them as battle wounds...(drive2)

I may be wrong, but there is no other car color that resembles the Cosmic Blue in the States....

To me cosmic blue looked dull and bit boring, more fitting for a camry or honda accord. Here in Australia we only have a colour choice of black mica, true red, cosmic blue and aurora blue for the MPS3.
I choice the aurora blue cos the car i was trading in was a black SP23 mazda, the red is a bit too bright (pity it was the velocity red as i like that colour), cosmic blue just didnt appeal to me, so all that left was the aurora blue.
I wish we had the option of silver and pearl white over here. (sad2)

I'm not knowledgeable in the suspension area, so I wanted to ask...
Does the stock speed3 come with dampers? What is the role of the damper? How does lowering a car, like I did to mine affect the stock shocks?
fourthmeal
12-20-2007, 03:35 PM
Damper is another word for shock or strut bud. Its the shock absorber.
We all have them, or we'd be oscillating all day long on the springs by themselves.
By putting stiffer and lower springs on a car, you stress the shocks much more, potentially killing them.
yup, thats why it would have been a good idea to install the prokit dampers while you were installing the springs b/c your gonna have to do it *when* the the stock ones break.. but besides that i think it looks nice. (thumb)

IMO its a bit too low, i think it would look better an inch higher because now it looks like the wheels are tucked too far into the wheel wells

The part number of my prokit springs were in the first picture i posted of the packaging box they came in but to save you looking, here is the part number: E10-55-008-05-22
Here is the info from the Eibach Europe website for the mazda 3, the MPS3 i have highlighted in bold:
Pro-Kit
Model/Year
Pro-Kit Part-Number, Spring Stamping front, Spring Stamping rear, front axle load rear axle load, Lowering front approx., Lowering rear approx, Status Notes, Homologation and Fitting Instructions
1.4, 1.6, 2.0 10.03 - E10-55-008-01-22, F11-55-008-01-VA, F3587002, 955 kg, 915 kg, 30mm, 30mm
1.6 CD 10.03 - E10-55-008-02-22 , F11-55-008-02-VA, F3587002, 995 kg, 915 kg, 30mm, 30mm
2.3 MPS 09.06 - E10-55-008-05-22, F11-55-008-05-VA, F3587002, 1070 kg, 915 kg, 25mm, 15mm

It says the MPS3 specific springs only lower 25mm (1 inch) front and 15mm (1/2inch) rear BUT these springs have lowered my car 30mm (1 1/4 inch) front and 25mm (1 inch) rear

Just the fact you said you already scraped your rear bumper and then called it a "battle wound" is just odd to me. So you spent money on something to make your car look better(in a way it does) but this also ruins your car at the same time. What sense does that make? It sounds like you should have just bought a regular 3 and slammed that. Good luck with the bad ride quality, blown shocks, and messed up bumpers. Hopefully it works out. Just my opinion, dont take it personally.

What I was trying to say is that I'm not gonna complain about scratching it due to the low drop...it's a known consequence with any drop.........besides it's only scratching the underside which is not visible anyway....I wasn't trying to say that I want my car to be a wreck, I simply meant to imply that I would have evidence of agressive modding....i'm sure people with stock springs have scratched their underside bumper like I have.....nothing to cry about though....like I said....just battle wounds....
Oh, and I just bought wheels for it too...pics are coming up tomorrow, but I'll post one up that I just took in my garage...

I was speaking to someone about this and a good point was brought up....isn't the speed3 already equipped with a sport suspension? I mean, as it is, the speed3 is already 1 inch lower than the conventional 3. Overall, this vehicle is made for speed....
so I just wanted to throw this out....I'm trying to reconcile the comment that people continue to make about blowing my shocks because of the drop.....has anyone blown their stock shocks as a result of dropping the height?

Your wheels look alot like the ones on the ZR1.
i dont think sum 1 had there ms3 long enough dropped for their shocks to go bad
