Right so I've bought the Protege, registered him, and had my 10 days to get him inspected. I was happy, driving Brody around. But when I went in for inspection I had a problem.

Everything with the physical inspection went fine, however for some unknown reason, the OBD II sensors keep reading Not Ready. Now I've driven it for a couple days, and even did the drive cycle test on it and for whatever reason, the damn thing just will not pass the tests. The previous owner had NO problems whatsoever.

Now I'm wondering if there is a master tech here who might know what the problem is or how to fix it. I'd do it at the dealership I got it from, however there is a snag. The master tech there is sore because I got it from under him (he wanted it something awful) and I"m worried he'll pull a "O well it'll cost like $1,000. Better sell it to me so you can save yourself the hassle." and I wanted a second opinion before I asked him.

Fudgie, sweet! You are like 30 miles south of me. I'm in Toga.

Anyhoo, I fixed it by reseting the ECU. Unplugged the negative terminal and depressed the brake like a buddy told me to to drain what little power was left from the ECU. Sensors started working and everything came up ready cept for the EVR (?) and the EGR. EGR threw up a code, P1195, fortunately my buddy has a Auterra-Dyno PDA and we know it's a EGR Boost Sensor Circuit error. So far I've looked online and everyone says to clean around the sensor for carbon but if you know of any other fix that might help, I'd appreciate it.

Boost sensor is up on the firewall, passenger side ( if I remember right). Make sure you have engine vacuum going to the sensor. Ports on intake like to get carboned up. Check out the electrical connection. Make sure it is plugged in and not corroded and green. Also- You can have 2 "not readys" for NYS. I've had goodluck clearing the codes, and doing a testdrive while monitoring readiness. As soon as all but 2 are good, head home and inspect that puppy. Have fun shoveling tonight!

Hi everyone,
I am new in here and grateful to the people that would give me a hint in this community of pro's.
My humble question is:
Is there any chance that I can fit a headlight assemble for a Mazda Protege 2001-2002-2003 into a Mazad Protege 1998, Dx?
I just had an accident and instead of buying the 2 parts of this kit for a 1998, I would buy only one part that makes the job for it. The problem is that I have no idea how many changes I have to make (car body) in the way to fit the assemble for a 2001 into my old 1998.
Thanks in advance!
