hey all out there i am new to this forum and need some help. The other night when i was driving home my battery light came on and my amp and speakers died. So i pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the motor and started it back up again. When running at idle the battery light stays off but when i accelerate it comes back on. Even when the amp is turned off this is happening.

The strange thing is that the car stereo speakers die with no sound but the CD deck is still on. When the battery light is on it seems to be overpowering the system. The dash lights get bright and the fans crank out more air and the windows roll up and down a lot faster.

Is this my alternator?
Or is it a burned out fuse?

I have talked to a few mechanics and they have told me they have never heard of anything like this.

your alt is gone. You can be sure of this by doing some very simple test.

See your alt being bad can either make to much juice IE windows faster lights brighter and all that.

Or to little IE not charging battery. It can change without reason or justification. It should always be pushing 14 amps no matter what.

Here are two links you may find very helpful,

If its not your alt then check your serpentine belts and ALL of your connections to and from the battery.; Leave nothing simple to chance.
