So today I went to the dealership and test drove the mazdaspeed3 and eventually bought it. And I guess Im asking how much everyone is paying a month for the MS3? I have a 08 MS3 Sport, pretty baseline and got Gap Insurance and some protective covering for the paint.. with everything and with 2k down came to 420.35 a month. Does that seem high to anyone on here? This is only the second car Ive boughten from a dealership so not to sure on anything. Cars MSRP was 22,935 and I wanted a red one.. but got a silver one instead.. so they took 500.00 off that... making it 22,435. Then with tax (1500) tag title (143) gap insurance (695) total came to 23,125. Im just trying to get a feel for what everyone is paying for their Speed3 is all. Thanks in advance.

lol yeah I couldnt wait that long.. I needed a car now. I was all excited about getting the car and everything. But now Im having really big doubts about the whole process. That does suck... 550.00 is a lot of money a month. I would have told them to stick it up their ass for that much lol.

I got an 08 Black Sport MS3 and I'm paying 417/month, no money down. Then again...I financed for 72 months through USAA @ 6.69%. So it all depends on your financing. They skew the monthly payment pretty bad. What did you get financed at?

My payments are $457 a month, $4k on a trade in.

it was 9.49% for 75 months. First it was 390... then they came at me @ 380.00.. then all of a sudden it jumped up to 420.35. I could live with 380.00 but 420.35 is like a 40 increase each month.

Wheew. Well I bought an 08 Cosmic Blue MS3 sport and they *wanted* $22,995 for it on the lot. They told me the blue was more than the black and silver ones they had @ $22,435 because the blue was SPEED only and rare. OK, well........I still wanted the blue. At the end of the day Saturday I walked out with the deal at $21,905 and a free dealer maintanance package for 3 years which includes free oil/filter changes & a wash and vacuum with every change. Free tire rotations and some other free stuff. I get a free lunch or super while I waite at the resturaunt that the dealer has upstairs. Very big dealership. Tasca Ford/Lincoln/Mecury/Mazda in RI. One big giant complex. I put $10,000 cash down on it and after every thing I am paying $270/mnth for 60 mnths. That is with my 7% state sales tax/title registration etc...

Charging more for a color is total BS. I will have to tell them I am looking for a black red or grey one so they give me a fair price on a white one.

lol they didnt charge more for a color... they just didnt have a red one in my price range... and they would have to get one from a different area... like minnesota or something.

i got my 07 ms3 gt for 23,5 otd , with 13,5 down. i pay 250 a month at 8%.thought id post this to help people out as recently wev had quite a few people having problems with bios
all the beep codes are different depending of who makes the bios , but here are some of the more common ones
What is a BIOS Beep Code?
When you power on a computer the BIOS immediately takes control of the computer and performs the P.O.S.T (Power On Self Test). At the end of the POST the computer will play an audible 'BEEP' through either the PC's internal speaker of through speakers attached to the sound card (if you have a built-in sound chip). If the POST completed successfully without detecting any problems with then system will play a single short beep to let you know the test is complete and the computer will continue to startup and load the operating system.
If during the POST the BIOS detects a problem it will normally display a visual error message on the monitor explaining what the problem is. However, if a problem is detected before the BIOS initializes the video card, or a video card is not present or not detected then the BIOS will play several 'BEEPS' through the speaker to let you know there is a problem. Depending on the type of the BIOS you have the BIOS may play beeps in a specific pattern to indicate what the problem is, or play the same beep a number of times indicating the problem. It is very important that you pay close attention to the number and/or pattern of the beeps your computer plays on startup.
Below is a table of the most common AMI, Phoenix and Award BIOS beep codes.
AMI (American Megatrends International) BIOS Beep Codes.
AMI BIOS uses beeps of the same length and pitch. The error is displayed as a number of beeps. For example, 4 beeps indicated a timer failure.
BEEP CODE MEANING POSSIBLE CAUSE
1 Beep (No video) Memory refresh failure Bad memory
2 Beeps Memory parity error Bad memory
3 Beeps Base 64K mem failure Bad memory
4 Beeps Timer not operational Bad motherboard
5 Beeps Processor error Bad processor
6 Beeps 8042 Gate A20 failure Bad CPU or Motherboard
7 Beeps Processor exception Bad processor
8 Beeps Video memory error Bad video card or memory
9 Beeps ROM checksum error Bad BIOS
10 Beeps CMOS checksum error Bad motherboard
11 Beeps Cache memory bad Bad CPU or motherboard
Award BIOS Beep Codes
Award BIOS uses beeps of varying duration. A long beep will typically last for 2 seconds while a short beep will last only 1 second. Award BIOS also uses beeps of different frequency to indicate critical errors. If an Award BIOS detects that the CPU is overheating it may play a high pitched repeating beep while the computer is running.
BEEP CODE MEANING POSSIBLE CAUSE
1 Long, 2 Short Video adapter failure Bad video adapter
Repeating (Endless loop) Memory error Bad memory or bad connection
1 Long, 3 Short Video adapter failure Bad video adapter or memory
High freq. beeps (while running) CPU is overheating CPU fan failure
Repeating High, Low beeps CPU failure Bad processor
Phoenix BIOS Beep Codes
Phoenix BIOS uses beep code patterns to indicate problems. In the table below the '-' indicates a brief pause between beeps.

I was really having serious doubts about getting it. But I guess 420.35 a month is better than 513.. or 550.00. Cause theres no way in hell I could do that. Wondering about if you're getting a good deal? Compare final purchase prices.
it was 420 for 75 months.
(420 x 75) + 2000 down = 33500
500 a month for 72 months 0 down, its always smart to keep money in the bank....
(500 x 72) + 0 down = 36000
He's paying probably 7000 more than the car in financing over 6 years. That's about 20% of the 29,000 he could have kept "in the bank" if he'd had the cash to drop on the vehicle. If he can make more than that 20% return over 6 years, he probably did the right thing.
2008 MS3 GT - $405/Month 60 months @ 5.64% $1600 down
(405 x 60) + 1600 = 25900
Your payments and final purchase price are probably middle to high middle of what other people are getting.

I really dont see how some of you got the deals that you got (i.e. out the door for less than $25k). Right now I'm negotiating for a 2008 MS3 GT and the lowest I can get anyone to go is $23,100 before tax and license (about $25,400 OTD). I got this price from one dealer so I called around and none of the other dealerships will even come close to that price.

No, I didnt. I'm not talking about total price of the car with interest, I'm talking pre-tax and pre-interest price of the car.
He said his payments are $405/mo for 60 months @ 5.64%, which means he paid $22,750 for the car PRE-FINANCE CHARGE. Which means he paid about $21,000 for the car pre-tax and pre-finance. Which, like I said is a couple thousand below invoice.

It's not the real out-of-pocket number for the price of the car, and it's not the amount the dealership ends up seeing at the end of the sale.
Invoice on the car is around $22,500. In a straight up sale at MSRP the dealership will pull in about $24,700. Financed they make an extra $1200. The dealership isn't really losing money if they cut the price to secure a sale over a 60 month financing period. It's a good deal, but it's not exactly outrageous. MSRP in Canada for my Speed3 was $30,995, and the dealership dropped it by $5000 because of the strength of the Canadian dollar and because I had them convinced I was financing over 6 years, so they were still going to make money on the sale, even at the huge discount.
This doesn't even take into consideration other factors, like the dealership trying to hit a sales target for the month, or manufacturer incentives to the dealership to keep sales numbers up during a rough times in the American economy, or the potential new income from the service department or other things like that. The dealership always comes out ahead in the sale in one way or another, otherwise they wouldn't be selling the car.

Well, I'm looking at his purchase price because I'm negotiating for a new MS3 right now and I'm trying to figure out how he got that price. With invoice at $23,250 (according to edmunds) and a factory holdback of about $350 (had an insider check on that for me), if the dealer sells the car for below $22,900 they are going to lose money. And in this guys case, unless he used dealer financing (and I doubt he did with such a good interest rate) they are going to lose A LOT OF MONEY.
In my case they're not making any money off my financing because I'm paying cash, and I doubt they want to move the car that bad because they are still flying off the lots. Trust me, despite what you see on CNN about the american economy people are still spending like crazy here.
I'm just trying to find out what ammo this guy used to get such a good deal.

I'm just trying to find out what ammo this guy used to get such a good deal.autos.msn.com has the invoice on a GT at $22,500. Deal for about 4% above that and the dealership will probably sell the car.
And I'm not too sure what the deal with financing rates are in the US, but the best rate I could get from a bank was about 7%, and the dealership was offering 4.9%.
Not sure what sort of financing deals most dealerships offer, but if they have open ended financing you can pay off at any time, see if they'll drop a bit on the price if you finance through them then just make one huge payment after you've signed the papers.
Keep in mind that even with a car like the Speed3, some dealerships will sell the car at or a bit below what it costs them because of other intangible benefits to the dealership that you might not see, be it incentives from Mazda USA on sales numbers, the prospect of more income in the service department, financing, etc etc. The car still MSRPs at $30,995 up here in Canada, and it's a GT without NAV and leather, so the prices in the US ALL look like a good deal to me...

Invoice prices can varry by like 700 depending on weather they add the delivery charge to the invoice. Although edmunds says 22,500 and they do not add the destination charge.
I had the idea to just go with dealer financing so they think they will get interest and then just pay it off the next day. Anybody else tried that yet? Or is there some clause that says you cannot pay it off too soon?

Wow, I'm surprised how much some of you pay in interest and paying for so many months.
I paid $26,800 (includes tax & extended warranty), put down 6,800 and pay $460/mo for 48 mos. at 4.94%.

To the OP - the sale price for your car is reasonable, but the finance charges you have agreed to for the next 6 years and 3 months are significantly more than I'd consider reasonable.
IMHO, if you need to finance a car past 60 months, you don't have nearly enough $ for that car.
420 * 75 = $31.5K + $2K down, you've just agreed to pay $33.5k for a reasonably fast mazda 3. That's over $10K in finance charges alone.
The good news is that this isn't set in stone, you can end up paying significantly less interest, but only if you pay down the loan much faster than required. If you can make double payments some months, do it. If you can only afford $500 some months, do that. (make sure that your bank puts any extra to principal and doesn't simply roll it into the next payment due). Anything you save of that $10K is more money in your pocket for your next car.

Crikeys! Y'all are getting smoked on insurance rates! Here they are offering between 3 and 4%, depending on the length of the term. But then again I'm from Canada and they take us up the pooper with the price to begin with....
Umm... what insurance rates? -_-a I guess you mean the APR. =p
OP shouldn't feel badly at all. I pay $500 a month for 60 months.

wow... like I said the more and more I read.. I dont feel to bad. And actually think I got a pretty good deal. Cause you either had to put a ass load down or get raped with a really high payment. I was really having serious doubts about getting it. But I guess 420.35 a month is better than 513.. or 550.00. Cause theres no way in hell I could do that. And TRSPEED3 you are really making me wish I got a red one instead lol.
well this monthly is cheaper than my previous car my GTO was 550 a month with 0 down and 0% intrested but my daughter was being born and need a family car..so i had to trade the gto in. i didnt even have it for a year and thats why i got screwed in the trade in if not my payments would be hella lower...i got my 07 GT w/homelink auto dim mirror, cargo net, ipod kit for 24,500 OTD so my payments with out adding any extra money to that would have been in the mid 300 but i got screwed with the gto so now i pay more...never buying an american car again they depreciate big time...thanks on the color..i love it...i waited 2 months to get the red...

seems ok, i got a 08 Sport at xplan cost through my company, (750 off), came with mazdaspeed cai and CBE , car totaled at 23500, with 1500 rolled over from pos camry, and high intrest rate because i have perfect credit but short credit.. so i pay about 540 a month right now, in 6 months i am gonna refinance for lower interest and pay around 400 a month..
