as for power, not much. the only thing that really helps is the intake, so I guess as much as anyone with an intake makes. A lot of dynos vary, so 15-20 whp above stock.

As for the other mods, I think there are better options out there. I would think the Cobb springs are better than the mazdaspeed's, theres a thread on the other forum with all the reasons why. The catback will really only add noise, not that much power, I saw a dyno where it took away 2 hp, and added like 6 torque or something.
A lot of people dont like the noise of the bpv, its like a metal hitting metal type of noise.
I dont know how necessary the clamp upgrade kit is.

Everything else sounds good.

I didnt mean to be too critical, I was just giving my opinion.

Lose the tint for the lights and use it to get an amp that will drive not only the sub but the speakers as well...

with the exception of the tinted lights, hose kit and BPV, you just described my car. Add an ETS TMIC though.

nice list you got there. like the others, I don't agree with everything, but to each his own...

those wheels are super sweet though. I was looking at them the other day and imagining how amazing they would look on my cosmic blue speed.

I might sell mine and buy the Chronos haha. Stupid popular wheel!

I think I am going to go with something from ssr.

i just like tinted stuff cause i want to make this a very stealthy car. I am hoping for the titanium gray to come out in 08.5 and after talking with jbird i am thinking about using the road magnet springs. but this car is just going to be my pocket rocket daily driver so no big power upgrades planned. which is going to be SOOOOOO HARD.

Are you going to have the Mazda dealer install the MS parts? If you're going to buy them right away and aren't likely to do other upgrades later it might be a very nice piece of mind to have the 50,000 mile warranty. Maybe even worth the $350(uninformed guess) it'll cost to have them installed before delivery.

GhostMercury
11-19-2007, 10:32 PM
my dealership said if i install it it wont void my warranty.

That's what everyone says as well, it must be true. I'm definitely not trying to say you'll void anything! I plan to install everything for myself as well.

A little known thing is that if you have the dealer install genuine Mazdaspeed parts "before delivery" those parts get added into the warranty... I'll see if I can copy the quote from the back of the manual without making any transcription errors (I'll even copy their formatting)...

A MORE PERSONALIZED APPROACH TO ACCESSORIES
One of the greatest joys that comes with owning a new MAZDA3 or MAZDASPEED3 is being able to personalize its appearance and enhance its performance with Genuine Mazda Accessories. Better still, all Genuine Mazda Accessories installed by your Mazda dealer - prior to or at initial vehicle retail delivery - carry the same new-vehicle limited warranty as your new Mazda. See your dealer for details.
If you're not interested in the warranty it's not worth it to pay someone else to do the installs. But since you're planning ahead; you're getting the parts right away anyway; and you plan to stop modding after your initial burst it sounds like it might make financial sense to get the longer warranty. If for nothing else than to increase the resale value.

By themselves parts with Mazda's "green" warranty are covered for 12 months.

hmm that is interesting
i am going to have to ask about this

The only products that roll into your warranty are "blue" products like licence plate frames and such. The springs, intake, exhaust etc is a "green" product, 12 months/12000 miles whoever installs it. The parts are just seen as OE by the mechanics.

ZooMIN3
11-24-2007, 01:31 PM
yup yup about the green, blue, and orange products....

If you take your car in for service, tell'em you want to restart the "green" warranty... that way you take it in, you'll always have a fresh 12 months to start off with when you leave the dealer!! lol

it could happen.... lol

Good luck with your purchase, and have fun with it when you finally get it!!!

By the way, you're going with sunlight silver, or the metro gray? If you went with the new white one, I'd envy ya... so if you want me envying ya, go with that one!

#1 If you pay >$175 for tint you're getting hosed
#2 Cobb SRI > MS CAI and you save ~$125
#3 Vibrant DP BE > MS CBE, $150 more, but you'll actually see a power increase
#4 Go w/ Cobb springs and no camber, you'll save ~$175
#5 ditch the OZ rims, you are spending too much money on rims and not enough on other stuff - Kosei, Rota, Motegi and others can be found cheaper than the OZs - also did not see money in there for lug nuts
#6 will you be installing the sub yourself? If not, add $$ for that. As it is, figure on ~$50-75 for wires, fuses, etc...
#7 consider buying the sub and amp off eBay - many good deals to be had there. FWIW the stock stereo in the ms3 sport IMO sounds like total @$$! - read the car audio thread for some ideas. But definitely upgrade your front speakers as well and eBay >>> Crutchfield
#8 you should be able to tint the lights cheaper - talk to bluebatmobile for prices

I think you can either save some $$ or have $$$ left for additional mods if you follow the above.

+1

$300.00 for a tint? I paid $130.00

$500.00 For MS CAI plus install by dealer if you want it covered under warranty for 12months. Hydro-lock isn't covered under warranty I wouldn't want to buy a 7k motor. Save $325 and buy a cobb SRI and use the money you saved to buy your other mods. A SRI is easy to install / uninstall if a problem arises.

MS CBE isn't worth it and it's like $750.00 installed I believe! I simple test pipe will run about $150-250 and will give actually gains and is easy to install/ uninstall.

MS springs pretty much suck from my understanding compared to the others out there.

Oh and you're gonna need a stronger rear motor mount and shifter bushings, the stock ones suck ass.

Just my opinion

Yep - again because I am a cheap ass, see the how-to section on epoxy motor mount (cost ya $5) and Enganear's post on stiffening your shifter bushings (a freebie if you own a hacksaw and vise or a grinder).

Two excellent mods and cost next to nothing.
