help code p2187 22psi

I have a 2006 mazda speed6 that keeps throwing a CEL its p2187. Another thing I ve noticed is my boost gauge is reading 22 pounds of boost. Ive been told max boost for the stock turbo should be 18 then it cuts off. I am kinda worried the only mod I have other then boost gauge is a cold air intake. the car seems to be running fine. I have all the current recalls done on the car. I am the second owner of the car I know nothing about the history. It was stock when it was given to me.

Possible Causes


Injectors leak/blocked
Air Intake Leak (after MAF)
Exhaust LeakPossible Solutions


Check Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
Check Injector(s)
Check Fuel Pump
Check Activated Charcoal Filter (EVAP) System Solenoid Valve 1 (N80)You probably have a bad purge valve, it's a common problem with these motors.

As far as you boost readings, your guage is more than likely off. I have a DEFi guage and it consistantly reads 2 psi higher than the map sensor. Also, if you have a down pipe or other exaust mods you can see spikes higher than 18 psi and not trigger the fuel cut...

it is a mazda speed cold air intake. the dealer has replaced every thing maf sensor, purge valve disconneced my boost gauge also now there trying to say my gauge controler is causeing the problem. I think there full of it..They Seem clueless. I have disconnected every thing as far as boost gauge is concerened and the code still comes up. it comes on for 2 days then goes out for 3

There is a recall for the swirl valve, try that.
