installed pic with the IC off for easier viewing ....

i have to admit i didnt believe the gains when i saw the dyno sheet......
but the i drove it !! WOW....just WOW ! the car pulls like crazy ! the spoo-up time is insanely fast. i catch myself building boost when i dont even want to. it just rushes in sooooo fast ! i had the test pipe added also. the combo of those two parts is amazing. traction in 1st and 2nd is non existant. it will end up hooking up towards the middle of third ! this was my best mod yet !
PG is doing a group buy on these, check out their thread ....

Does this make it louder inside the car?

no not at all. i got zero extra sound from the manifold. the racepipe did add a little bit of a deeper sound, and did add some resonance

So how much of a pain was the install?

edit: nevermind.... just saw it on the GB thread

those are some nice gains. i have a crazy idea of that manifold with a gt28 or gt30 turbo. that could be fun.

how much closer to the TMIC does that thing sit? Looks like a nice piece and good gains throughout on it. Probably wouldn't make too much heat difference at speed, but not sure how much it would change things in low speed conditions like autocrossing.
I'd love to see an MS3 with some dynos of the complete bolt ons that you can basically do (CAI, exhaust manifold, downpipe, testpipe, exhaust) at stock boost. Then maybe one with BOV, TMIC, and upped boost [MBC/BCD].
That so far, seems to be my plans eventually.

cool, did they install it for you? how much etc..

11-20-2007, 03:30 PM
yes mine was installed, but only because it was the prototype piece.
it does sit a tad closer to the bottom of the TMIC, but i dont think it will make any difference. i do plan on adding some heat reflective tape to the bottom of the intercooler end tanks. i dont think it NEEDS it but i'm sure it wont hurt either.

lucky!!! hey what about the dyno sheets, how much of a gain directly resulted

the dyno showed gains of 28HP and 35TQ !!

So how much of a pain was the install?I installed this on a speed6 about two months ago along with the catless downpipe in about 6 hours. For the adverage mechanic it might be a little difficult though. The gains are very noticeable and the spool up time is insane. This is must have. I am going to be putting a dual cpe exhaust on his car this weekend and he is going to get dynoed at turboxs next week. The guy that i speed of is cherryspeed over at ***************. If anyone needs this installed let me know!!

6 hours? It took 3 for the manifold if it wasn't for the broken stud then the DP is easily accessed from the top and unbolted in a matter of 5 minutes tops.

Dude, that's a freakin' record. The speed6 DP is a bitch to do b/c of the AWD. That and the manifold in 6 hours is quality.

Yea the speed6 DP install is nothing nice, but i also know, you will munch at least once stud doing the same install on the Speed3. Ive had a DP sitting in my closet now for like, 4 months because ill do everything at once. Bigger Turbo, DP, and manifold when the tuning solutions become PnP. I want to do this all at once time.

car feels strong. i have yet to have any issues. i have checked for leaks on several occasions, and found none. i think these should hold up long term.

i just reread you said you did RP also.. was the dyno with just the manifold or was it manifold with the addition of the RP? just wanted to clarify...

dyno was with the manifold only. the dp was added afterwards. the combo of the 2 feels awesome. i kinda want to add a DP to it, but my car has had the famous exhaust smoke in the past with a free flowing DP.

I would just take the car in and get the new turbo installed bro. Mazda knows about this problem and shouldnt give you a hard time about it.

not with the manifold installed...

yeah.. iwas going to bring it in, thats why i went back to stock exhaust.
the stock stuff gets ZERO smoke though...nothing. now with the test pipe, i still get nothing. oh well, there is one car doing 12's with just a test pipe for exhaust mods. i suppose i can do it too ! i just may do a gt28 turbo at some point, but who knows.

I think if I put one of these in my car I would wrap the individual runners with high temp insulating tape prior to bolting it in.
For those of us who live in states with tough emission laws, does anybody make a downpipe with a high flow cat in it? I wouldn't mind just going through the exhaust system from one end to the other replacing all the cats with high flow versions. That way I might still pass emissions but get a nice drop in back pressure.
A head hunter called the wife the other day and talked up changing jobs. He mentioned a nice raise and a 5 figure sign on bonus. If she goes for it I am going to have to be sooo extra nice to her. "Honey, can I have $2,000.00 to mod my car?" "Don't be silly, I'm rubbing your feet because I love you..."

the cpe has one primary high flow cat. The second oen is replaced with a test pipe.
You should be able to pass emissions with just the one high flow primary cat

cobbs will have a cat.... whenever it decides to get here, sometime after the AP I believe

Sometime after the second coming, you mean.
I have lost all faith in Cobb delivering that AP in my lifetime. So by extrapolation, I will never see anything that is due out after the AP.

Until they realize there is a bigger market for the new WRX/STI coming out, and back table this...again. Basically, I'll believe in the Access Port when it is in my hands.
