well i personally would go for the GTSpec if you are looking more for a performance aspect of the bar, if you just want one for looks vibrant. Im sure it helps performance too, but my cheaper strut bar has had the plates bend from being under a lot of stress. So really its all in what you want.

dont waste money on a strut bar.
save up a little bit more cash and invest in some springs and maybe even struts as well. youll feel more of a preformance gain than with a strut bar.
just my 2 cents.

IukekiniProtege just an off topic question. is your 2000 LX 1.6 or 2.0L?
Anyway, I might do both. haven't decided yet.

fyi, the 1999-2000 came with the 1.6 and the 1.8. No 2.0 until 2001

yeah mines a 2000 LX 1.6L and i defiantly agree with NCZ13 on what he said. Springs will give you the biggest gain handling performance wise. Also, will make your car look hot as hell, well at least better hehe. The drop on most of the springs avail. aren't enough to really hurt the cars every day drive ability, right now i have my 14" steelies w/ snow tires, and the 2001+ front lip so im riding pretty low for a Non Mazdaspeed protege/MP3, and i still clear decent sized speed bumps with ease.

Here are before & after pics of my 1.6. I used Tein Stech springs & Tokico blue struts(non-adjustable). Noticeable gain in handling w/o giving up too much ride quality. Go for the spring & strut mod 1st you'll be happier in the long run. sorry the 2nd pic isn't good.

I'm guessing the 1.6 didn't come with Tokicos stock like the 2.0's did?

Yes from the factory Black not Blue though. Way way back I had an Eiback prokit (not low enough for me) cut about 1-1/2 coils off. Struts were still good after 2 years slammed to the ground and are now sitting in my shed replaced with full coilovers.

that doesnt make much sense. i compared the side to side the blues are noticeably smaller.
