as the title reads, post pix of your car and list the mods you have.

Edit by Wannabe:
Please try to not go off on tangents about specific mods/wheels/etc. If we see this thread getting off topic, the posts will be deleted. Also, please only post 2-3 images. More than that and it becomes a burden to open the thread. Thank you.

no real engine mods, just a gutted stock air box with the OEM filter even.
suspension is full K-Sport coil over set up. racing beat front and rear sway bar's with upgraded endlinks.
visual mods are front clear corners, 5% rear tint, 35% front, blue headlight film, shorty ant, and my fav mod, removed stock door guards!

Yea I thought they may be a bit small but I can't get much bigger to pass. The decals are all custom made in a flat black. You can see them in the light and only from a angle coming or going. From the side they are pretty much invisible.
I did not want my ricer side to be to obnoxious! Anyway here is a closeup

Question for ya.... what exactly are the JDM mirrors? Is there any big difference from the standard mirrors? or are they just smaller/etc ?
They are the same size, just the are auto folding. Fold in when the car is off and fold out when I turn the car on. Plus have a button to fold them in/out when you want. Blinker on the outside of the mirror, courtesy light on the bottom, that turns on when the door is opened, and the dual bevel mirror so you can see your blind spot better.

Talking about the foglights or the headlights? the fog lights just look like a bulb replacement. The headlights are the Raptor Halo lights, you can buy them here.... therpmstore.com (http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=268&osCsid=88c38e179a172c50f8079456e4fc2d17)

That's different, that's the little bulb used from the "parking" light.... the first light setting you switch on before it turns your headlights on is called the parking light
that's just a different colored bulb.
So far I've seen 4 sets of lights on this car
the fog lights on the bumper... the normal beam lights and the parking lights and then the high beam lights.

The parking lot is automatically part of the headlights... what kind of car do you own? A Mazdaspeed6..... A Mazda6 at least?
Think of them as "driving lights"
when you turn your lights on the little dim glow that you see in a Mazda6's headights... the ones on the inside..... closest to the grill.
See the lights turned on in this pictur?
http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop-380x252/07MAZDA6_5D_frt_7-8_dw.jpg
those are the parking lights, it just involves replacing a bulb to make it a different color, that's it. No rewire, nothing, I know a guy who has blue (he doesn't have those halo headlights that look like Bimmer lights, just the blue parking light)

That bulb is the "parking light" bulb... it's in the same housing as the high beam, all you need to do is replace that bulb with whatever colored bulb you want.

its on there.... im thinking of pulling it off and redoing it, mainly to get rid of the gaps in the tape, and use one long piece; pulling off the backing as i stick it on. it survived the high pressure car wash and some steep driveways.

I love Lotus Esprits, especially the V8 models from 2001 to 2004, that's when they changed the tail lights from square to round. I really wanna get one if I ever get enough money. That is my dream car over any other car. (except a McLaren F1)
Hey Talbot I don't know, that's why I'm asking, they are just halo rings, like the BMW lights, but they don't really seem like a good projector bulb, so I'm asking how people like the visibility. I mean from an "industry standard" point of view lights are supposed to enable like 200 feet (can't remember exactly) visibility and high beams supposed to be like 500 feet.

How do the angel eyes work? are they hooked up to the parking light, so they turn on when the parking light turns on, and you still have the normal beam for driving?

Thanks, and yes it is...Now I just need some coilovers and rims haha.
Yeah becareful with that bro. My advice to you is from what others have told me. Once you lower the car with that Autoexe lip, you're more prone to cracking it
people have told me they've cracked/broken theirs from dips in the road/driveway and from pulling too close to a bumpstop in a parking space.
I've lowered my car 2 inches on springs (I had some coilovers, I got at a steal, sold them on ebay, and bought H&Rs since everyone says they're great) and I wanna put my coilovers on, but even on 2 inches I've scraped the front bumper's bottom and I've broken off a piece of that plastic crap that comes on the bumper from the factory.

Yea thats thi biggest thing I am worried about is cracking that lip or breaking it, I will just have to see after I lower how low that lip is and how careful I will have to be...

You can do what I do after I scraped the front bumper.
I drive AROUND dips in the road, and I back into parking spaces and high dipped driveways (thumb)
and if I have to go to a store that has a parking lot with a high dip, I'll park in another plaza's parking lot, or find another way in, or I'll just come back in a friend's car. I'm done scratching my car. I even go over speed bumps at a side angle now, cause if I go over normally I can feel it scrape the bottom of my car. (I think it's scraping the exhaust pip or something)

i have them hooked up to my orange sidemakers, so when i turn the lights on half way,{ just parking lights} they apear by them selfs, if i turn the lights on all the way,{ headlights} they are still on, and still visable,...

rolled fenders no rubbing. i have 225 right now, but before i got those i had 235, still no rubbing. next summer i'll probably go with either a +42 or +45 offset and try to stick 245 or 255's there, I know one guy has 245's with no problems.

Thanks for letting me know, cause there's a pair of wheels I want, but they are +40 offset, so I wasn't sure if I could still run them on my 225/40/18s and not rub with rolled fenders, wasn't sure if the wheel would still stick out too far.
That wider stance is SEXY on these cars.

18 by 10? that is fucking nuts. I've thought about doing 18 x9.5 cause there's some wheels I REALLY want, but when I measure and look at the offset, it doesn't look like it will work unless I put on coilovers and set them stiff enough to avoid travel down and rubbing the tires :(
If you don't mind could I see some side pics and pics from the front to see how the wide tires look on these cars?

I'll see if I can get some pictures up sometime over the next week or so.... I'll also have to check inner suspension clearance as well while I'm at it to make sure wider will fit.
8.5" wheels are not a problem on this car, especially if you don't mind rolling the fenders (some people are picky about this issue) and/or if you have a reasonable ride height/spring stiffness.

I rolled my GF's on her 6 hatch..... I wouldn't mind rolling my speed6 as long as it allows me wider wheels and tires. I'd love to stick some 245s on it.
My springs right now I have the Megans Racing and it's dropped the car like 2 inchs from factory height. That might be too much for the car at the moment. I'd have to wait til i get the money to get the coilovers installed and that would probably help.

Ahh, sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking.

Yeah someone said they suck at projecting but look cool, so i'm thinking:
OK.... they must wire up and turn on your to your "parking" lights? Does that mean the low beam still projects light when you drive? (like the BMW)
or do I need to install some "driving" lights in the bumper where the fog lights are?

There are 2 currenty available...... one from CP-E and one from Corksport...... the only difference is corksport gets ride of the stock air filter position and turns the top mount housing into an air filter.

Is it really worth it going through the trouble of installing HIDs in the fogs? They only illuminate a few feet ahead of the car, and a stock halogen bulb easily does the job. You could have just gotten an HID match blue-tinted halogen bulb, right? Especially considering that they aren't projectors, so there's probably a good amount of glare...

Yep, thanks.. at the time I bought the car I was hearing about the smoking turbos and broken rear diffs and I was just getting my liscence back, so a car to "race" around in wasnt on my list of things I wanted. So right now its only meant to feel sporty to me, a few more bolt ons and I'll be satisfied..
Also I looked at the 6's with cloth option and some of the cloth colors are just downright fucking ugly! I go to local meets and want to ask these people how in the hell can you live with such a god awful color interior!!! Bleh!(blah)

Leather also cracks over time...... so it's really a thin line, ya know? lol One one hand I love leather, on the other I don't want it to be cracking 3-4 years down the line, and that makes black cloth a good choice cause it will take longer to wear down, but when you spill something it doesn't wipe up as easy as leather :(
But yeah the beige and grey, are BLEH..... it seems only black has the nice looks, whether it's cloth or leather.

I have leather in my other car and it is nine years old. Only a couple fine cracks. I condition the hell out of it though.
Leather takes more maintenance, can but hella hot on your cheeks on a hot day in the sun, can be slippery in the turns, and takes more though of what you have in your back pockets due to punctures. I would still take it any day over cloth that fades, rips, snags, stains, and absorbs smells.

for now I deleted the rear mufflers since I heard the stock exhaust isnt the issue, its the exhaust manifolds that have the cats crammed basically right into the exhaust ports so I made a set of straight pipe sections with tips in place of the old mufflers, I also have the CP-E wishbone mount, I HAD a CAI until I hydrolocked my engine. for the fogs just the standard plug and play kit for the MS6 h11 fogs
for the lows, the relay kit so all you have to do is find the +12v switch wire that runs into the headlight and tells it to turn on, and put in your bulbs and ballast.

I admire that. not many people condition the hell out of their leather. I condition my cloth everytime I wash the car, and I know all about the back pocket stuff. my father stabbed a hole in the leather of his truck cause he forgot to take his hunting knife off when we went into town. LOL

Damn...I just accidentally deleted all the pics that I took tonight of my LED tails and was trying to post here... :( Is there any way to un-delete pics from a memory card? Is there some kind of a hidden recycle bin on there?

No you need an undelete program....... WITHOUT having written anything to the card (like taking more pics after deleting them)
You need a program like Ontrack EasyRecovery or GetMyFilesBack....... even then they aren't 100%

for now I deleted the rear mufflers since I heard the stock exhaust isnt the issue, its the exhaust manifolds that have the cats crammed basically right into the exhaust ports so I made a set of straight pipe sections with tips in place of the old mufflers, I also have the CP-E wishbone mount, I HAD a CAI until I hydrolocked my engine. TWM Shortthrow shifter, Rota P1 18" hyperblack rims. Next mods will be tints, Sniper COP upgrade, Mazdaspeed lowering springs, DG CF downforcers from PG and MSDS headers along with eventually getting the CP-E MAFci intake and installing the AEM Bypass filter on it since Im deathly afraid of driving around with these god awful flash flood type of storms the midwest has been having

I did that to my old work truck. Had a one inch scraper in my back pocket. It didn't puncture it, it sliced a six inch gash. I got the most ricer seat cover I could find at walmart.lol

Chrome Kazera KZ-V's. While I'm not a big fan of chrome, I do like the KZ-V.
Post 'em up when they're mounted. ;)

Absolutely - I need to install my shocks & springs too. I agree, I'm not typically a chrome fan either but I think the brightness of the chrome will look great on the glacier silver. I had the same wheels (in silver) on my protege that I sold almost 2 years ago. I bought both sets used for a good deal with tires. I was also looking at the kosei's you have but I think I'll be happy with these. They're rather "big" looking for 17s, and the high offset will allow me to run wider tires later if I want to.

They are KZ-V's actually. ;) The gray ones.
It's funny that you're looking at the same wheels I was looking at, like the Koseis.

Oh oops! They are a very similar design, the kosei's just have a thinner, more tapered spoke

supposedly with the stock midpipe your looking at almost no raspyness vs if you had INJEN SES and MSDS headers, If anything you could put in a resonator to get rid of the rasp.. either way once I run across some extra cash I'll be sure to post.

Door Trim probably coming off today. What do you use to get it off?
Also, I LOVE my LED tails. They are very bright, and only cost $200 including shipping. Look great at night. The turn signals and backup lights are still normal bulbs, but I have a set of LED bulbs coming for those. Hopefully 15-LED bulbs should be bright enough.

Heat gun, dental floss & hot water usually works best. Shouldn't be too much trouble.

I already got them off. Peeled very easy, after cutting them with floss. They were pretty hot from the sun. No problems with residue or paint not matching, thank god.
Those are 17-inch Exel Radius wheels. Do they make them in 18? I got them from wheelmax.com and they didn't show them in anything larger than what I got. 18's would look better, but the ride is already pretty stiff with 50 profile tires, so 45s would be worse, so I'm kinda glad I got these. $750 shipped with tires and mounting can't be beat. Same thing with lowering; it would look nice, but probably not do any favors for the ride quality. How the heck do some of you guys run 19's with aftermarket springs???
This weekend I will be painting the stock sport grille black, for a nice accent, everything but the top slat. Will update pics. What is the best way to paint one, anyway? There are pretty complex surfaces on there...would it be better to just have a shop do it?

It's a good idea too to use a claybar on your doors to remove any residue, even if you can't see any.

for 17s they actually look decent - and at stock height at that
most aftermarket rims look awkward without a drop
they do have an 18" version FWIW

um, probably about 5-4 inch's from stock. im tucking a full two inch's of stock tire. (ask anyone at the mazda meet today in chicago)
and actually, it ride's great. im not on blown stock struts. there a full coil over set up with upgraded racing beat sway bar's and endlinks. my fiance litterally drives it more then i do, and she doesnt even complain. and if she did, id have to put it back to stock. lol.
keep in mind im 28. im not a 17 y.o with a honda that could handle a bumpy shitty ride.

I don't understand how that's possible. It literally has like 2 inches of wheel travel, so how could it be smooth? I'm just curious, because I was thinking about lowering mine too. And how do the front wheels turn when they are tucked in? Do they rub?
nate0123
08-10-2008, 10:26 AM
it probably wouldn't work with lower offset aftermarket wheels, but the stockers have a lot of offset which leaves a bit more room for turning

Roll those fenders!!!!!!!!!!
xxxmonoxidechil
08-10-2008, 12:50 PM
its been lowered over two years exactly how you see it. and have never rubbed, or rolled the fenders. the really crappy backspacing of the OEM rims allows you to get away with alot. once i upgrade wheels. i will have to raise it up for sure. all im doing is taking advantage of the stock rims at this point and there bad design. lol.
the rims im probably getting are a 45 offset, and an 18. so once i order them, ill be rolling the fenders before even attempting to put them on. im hoping i can keep the drop as close to it is now on the larger rims.
m6racer on M6C.com is a local to me, and is on the same coilovers, with pretty much the same drop, and also doesnt have any issues. and hes on 18's, but has rolled his fenders. i actually have pic's i took of our cars side by side yesterday at a local mazda meet. i dont think there are really any other members sitting like us though. most dont go so extreme. keep im mind my car isnt a daily driver also. its stored alot more then driven. and has never seen any snow of any type. he actually drives his car year round. i think my car would just be a qiant snow plow! lol.

actually chicago was voted worst streets last spring for potholes. ;) just dont speed, and know the roads you drive on. i have to stay off alpine rd, one of the biggest roads in town just because of how bad it is. lol. the constant freezing, and thawing DISTROYED our roads this year. it was down right scary driving the 6 for awhile.
here's a pic from yesterdays meet. im about 1/2 inch lower then m6racer's car, and he's on 18's obviousely. he obviousely rolled his fenders, which i know ill be doing once i get the new rim's.
