Issues with the SRT-4, thought I could use a truck, but never did and since it was a V8, I was filling up once a week @ $60+ a pop so got rid of the truck and got the Speed 3.

i drove a honda crx si for 16 yrs, and really had no intention of getting a new car. i also subscribe to all the 5 major car mags and when i started reading the reviews for the ms3, that changed my mind. when all the mags basically say "buy this car, best bang for the $" you know you have to start paying attention. 1 test drive is all it took. i'm looking to keep my Red Rocket for a loooong time- who knows what type of cars will be around in 15 yrs??

Love the crx si!
I'd guess that in 15 years or so, we'll probably be thinking about or maybe forced into electric cars, hydrogen cars, bicycles, biodiesel cars, ethanol cars, Fred Flinstone cars, etc.
Either that or we will be slaves to Chinese empire, being lipo-sucked of our fat to fuel the government. :D kidding.

98 VW GTI VR6 - crashed
02 Subaru WRX - bought then traded-in due to buying a condo
05 Acura RSX Type-S - got an incredible 3-year lease deal
08 Mazdaspeed 3 - new purchase
So far I think the Type-S had the best handling feel and by far the best clutch. You can fling that thing around like crazy, but with no traction control it peeled out too much turning into oncoming traffic from a standstill. Got sick of having to rev the engine to get anything out of it. The WRX had the best traction...which is to be expected, but the WRX's shifter felt like crap after a couple years. Good luck getting it into reverse. Also the WRX's interior was very cheap feeling. The MS3 pulls the hardest...no question, even harder than my Cobb Stage 1 WRX. The MS3 is just a good all-around car with 4 doors. If it had AWD and a slightly better clutch it would be perfect.

1997 Nissan 240sx. 2.4 litre turbocharged. best time was in sig on low boost and drag radials. as it sits now, it's likely at least a full second quicker, but i won't ever know since it's for sale. i had done really everything i could to it, minus build it (it has lasted 3+ years on stock internals, and just this past weekend i have upgraded to an MLS HG and ARP studs) and paint it. it has a/c and all amenities, but i wanted something new for once and to play with, hence the MS3.

before that i owned a 1993 toyota camry. it was done up to australian touring car specs, but i never got a chance to put a 3s-gte from an mr2 in it. i was a poor high schooler years ago. it looked like this, minus the cage and stickers :P (the color was slightly darker blue).

95 Exploder - SOLD for... 95 GTI VR6
I still have the GTI but I will have to sell it eventually. This is my first, brand new car and I bought it all by myself (standing ovation please). My GTI kept giving me too many problems with the reliability of the 12v VR6 going too low for me to keep using it as my DD to try and get to work among other places. I loved the GTI though, it was a great car.
But that MS3 slut has stolen my heart.(cabpatch)

the last 2 anyway...
87 crx (very little worked on this car when I got rid of it, but for years I kept it running for next to nothing, super easy car to work on. Perfect for living in san francisco where people park by brail, plus you can easily do a u-turn on narrow city streets)
02 vw golf. As much as I loved this car it was a total POS, for ever letting me down, and I grew weary of the "which light today" game.

First car was a 1996 White GMC Sonoma Reg Cab. 4-cyl Auto which was slow as hell. (no pics)
Next was a 2001 Chevy Cavalier Z-24. Still slow, but alot faster than the truck. Focused on exterior mods more than go mods.

Had to trade out the parts on the Cavy after a incident involving snow and a curb. Drove it stock for a few years while at school until I got an internship and upgraded to my 2007 Mazdaspeed3 GT in Cosmic Blue. I am going for all-go parts this time (the correct way to do it).

1998 Ford Ranger XLT Crew(on the left). My dad's new truck on the right.
Modified with light bar, Bilstein shocks(gave it a bit of a lift), and K&N CAI. Had to sell it cause of poor ass MPG (12MPG average!)
Feels damn weird going from the truck to the rocket! Also, the rocket was my first car for a manual. Learned the basics in 2 days and was ready to go.

I don't really sell cars until they're destroyed.
Right now, I have a 1979 Camaro with a 400 CU Small block
2002 Mustang GT with a 03 Cobra IRS, Vortech Supercharger, 13 Inch brakes and a ton of other work done to it
I still have my 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 which the MS3 was bought to replace. I decided that the car is still useful though so I'm going to run it into the ground.
We also still have our 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Old pics of the Mustang are at www.ctgrey02.com
The rest of the cars are in the MS3 pics www.ctgrey02.com/pics/mazda/

I don't think so, but only because I agree.
Past rides? First was a 1g non turbo DSM, didn't do shit to it, it was an auto front driver, had a kabillion miles on it, and drove it for five months before it just died, and gave it to a local mechanic. Then it was a 2000 Rav4. Then jumped up into E46 325i. Now my Speed3. So far, the Speed3 has been my favorite

I just have to ask and if it gets into too much personal info, that's fine, but how have so many of you owned so many 'new' cars in a row? Is it just buying/selling/etc and losing some dough here and there, is it wrecking them and getting a new one (insurance much??), how does it work? I know if there's any truth at all to the finances thread then I don't make what my peers do, I'm about $10k behind, but benefits are ridiculous... However, if I made $70k a year and my last three cars were an Evo 8, a STI, and an LX Civic and they were all made after 2002, I'd be a broke m/fer! I had to layout Excel spreadsheets and get some money out of a mutual fund before I decided I /could/ buy a MS3 IF I found the right dealership willing to give me exactly the deal I needed and exactly what I wanted in trade for my '05 3s. I KNEW my Speed3 was a pipe dream if I didn't get my way, so I kind of 'gave' it to them on the MS3 price, still argued off delivery charges and the 'window treatment' they scammed on, and I got over KBB /best/ value for my 3s trade-in. For that I'm infinitely thankful for my Mazda dealership - when I got there they already had a very nice bill of sale drawn up with every price and the exact interest I wanted, which was below prime by about 0.5%, and the trade-in value correct... No 60 year old 'managers' to talk to about how I'm 'cutting him pretty close' to the quick, nothing.

I wonder the same thing sometimes. How are people able to afford all these cars. I'm just getting started in like. My wife and I leave in a very inexpensive area of the U.S. Between both of us we make decent money and we're financially savvy, but we could not dream of buying an MS3 until her protege and my P5 are paid off.

Next: 1989 Pulsar (227k miles, college car, was on it's last legs)
Third: 1997 Taurus (pulsar was dead, needed something and it was a good deal at the time)

It was tough letting go of my S4, that car was like my baby; but trading it in made economical sense, and maintenance was becoming a burden. The MS3 is half the price of a new S4, yet delivers almost the same in terms of fun and features. Only things I miss are AWD (easy lauches, no torque steer, winter-friendly) and low cabin noise at high speeds. As to which car is faster? Can't say for sure, which is a good thing. The MS3 feels stronger/faster on the butt dyno, but the S4 probably gets the better performance numbers because of the better launch.

Nice GTO. I still want one as a track toy.... but that is more of a wish these days as things change with life.
I will go down the list of what I drove and what my husband and I currently have.
1st car - 1985 Ford EXP I beat that car up and it came back for more.
2nd car - 1983 3.8 Mustang - It was the ugliest Mustang you have ever seen.
3rd car - 1990 Mustang - Much better then the 1st one.
4th car - 2000 Toyota Corolla - Some one made an illegal left turn in front of me
5th car - 2001 Toyota Corolla - Nice but super boring also not cheap fully loaded.
6th car - 1995 Dodge Neon I got this to so I could get ride of the car payment.
Got Married and gained
1988 Mercury Cougar 5.0 - totally pimp :) (Gone)
1985 Toyota 4x4 lifted and can take one heck of a beating.(Gone)
1990 Toyota 4x4 pick up to replace the 85 after he rearend an explorer.
2000 Pontiac Firebird - just over 400 hp to the tires 11.72 in the 1/4
Then we bought the 2008 Black Mica Speed 3. :) It's mine to drive.

Damn, some of you have gone through a lot of cars!!! (boom05)
I'm 31 years old and got my first car at 16.
76 VW Bug - Fuel injected piece of crap. The injectors kept clogging and cost me a crap load. I though Bugs were supposed to be cheap. I loved it though and had it 6 years. Fond, fond memories :)
95 Chevy S-10. Great little pickup that would never die. Put 120K miles on it and the only thing that went wrong with it was a clogged fuel filter.
97 Eclipse GST - mods listed in sig. Great car. Loved every second of it until it started to break down on me at 120K miles. Still think its one of the sexiest looking cars out there. Got me completely hooked on turbos.
00 Pontaic Grand Prix GTP (ex wifes old car) - superchared fun but had some major mechanical problems after about 60K.
07 MS3 GT -Great car with tons of power. Feels a little to refined sometimes and I miss that raw feel of my Eclipse sometimes. I don't like not having full control over the throttle plate ;)

Hey guys I'm new and I thought I would chime in. I got my first car when I was 16. I just turned 24 2 weeks ago.
1997 Toyota Camry ( Great car that my parents gave me .....kept it till I turned 23)
1967 Mustang Fastback (Fun car ......I rebuilt it with my uncle. It was the first car I learned to work on and I still miss it)
2000 Civic Si ( Excellent motor and tranny, I did I/H/E and I was satisfied. I sold it to a good friend of mine and I still see the car every now and then)
1998 Eclipse GSX ( My first experience with all wheel drive. I rebuilt a 6 bolt with a big 16g, threw on a front mount, safc, etc, and developed a really bad lead foot. It was a fun car but the transmission was crap. After replacing the motor I bought a spare tranny (came with the motor for only 250 bucks for both) but never got around to testing it out). even though I had fun with it, I was glad i never sold my Camry. The mits only worked 7 to 8 months out of the year on average.
2006 Subaru WRX (Best car I've ever owned besides the speed. I miss the awd and the boxer grumble) (2thumbs)
2007 Mazdaspeed 3 (You guys know the deal with this thing) (lol2)
Heres a little pic of the mits and the Rex next to each other. The rex with cobb stage2 and a downpipe is sti fast if not faster. The mits only had about 312whp. Good times have been had with all my cars. I wish it were possible for me to keep them all.

New MS3 owner as of yesterday. :D Pics and observations thread coming...
My last daily driver, which I still own, is a 98 Ford Contour. It has the 2.5 Duratec V6 and 5-speed transmission, a rare combo. It is a great handling car with decent power, just a little too plain for me. I did add the SVT dual exhaust and the factory 12-spoke rims, but people still think it's an Escort or Taurus.
I also own a 91 Mustang GT (nearly mint), 95 F-150, and 06 Honda Shadow Aero.

i drove a honda crx si for 16 yrs, and really had no intention of getting a new car. i also subscribe to all the 5 major car mags and when i started reading the reviews for the ms3, that changed my mind. when all the mags basically say "buy this car, best bang for the $" you know you have to start paying attention. 1 test drive is all it took. i'm looking to keep my Red Rocket for a loooong time- who knows what type of cars will be around in 15 yrs??
Drove the P5 for 3 years and thought about a MS3, then decided on something not so practical this time around. Sorry I'm not part of the team. I did test drive a few times.

I'm only 19, but I love flipping cars. Most of these I got at a steal and sold them for NO LESS than what I paid! I bought all of these except the first 2.
1966 Mustang. Was bought to restore. Sadly, this is as far as it got
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/Shakerh00d/resto.jpg
1988 Toyota pickup. Still my DD (but technically it's my dad's truck). Only 150,400 miles as of today and running just as well as any legendary 22RE
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/Shakerh00d/truck22.jpg
I wanted a fast car. I found the cleanest '99 T/A one will ever see. Garage kept, never did see rain, detailed every week (I worked at a detail shop). It had the SLP lid, flowmaster muffler, and some other shit
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/Shakerh00d/HPIM0085.jpg
Then I wanted a more professional DD instead of my truck. So with the T/A payment, I still bought this 2003 A4 5spd with 21,000 from my mom's company- it was their company car and the lease went up. (DIY black grill and 20% tint)
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/Shakerh00d/HPIM0690.jpg
Well I sold the T/A and the Audi payment was getting to me, so I sold it too. I wanted a tuner car that I could make fast and still look good. I then took the money I made from the Audi and made a horrible decision... this '97 DX
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/Shakerh00d/HPIM0801.jpg
Finally, I realized that Hondas are cheap to work on but expensive to make both fast AND daily driver reliable. So I opted to take out a loan for my MS3. I'm finally happy with a car!
The end.

^^I was gonna say, something didn't look right about that intake mani for an s2000 ;)
This is a great thread! I've been reading on and off all evening! I started in highschool with a 91 Camaro RS rag top. Had the 305 V8 that I think came from the factory with a stellar 170 hp. 4 spd auto and a heavy ass 'vert made for a 16.9 @ 81 at highschool drags. Was still fun though; had a flowmaster exhaust and I added a K&N.
During college I inherited my folks' old 94 Dodge Intrepid. Not a bad car really, sporty-ish, and comfy for my long drives to school in Michigan's upper peninsula.
I bought my 05 Focus 2.3L new after being very impressed with the little car's capability. Then I boosted it :D
Pre-turbo:
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i238/bacarl/Focus%20Dearborn/FcsDrbrn014.jpg
The only recent pics I have of the car were taken at its last autox; apparently I never uploaded them to photobucket, but I'll try to add one on here...
Then this happened
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i238/bacarl/The%20End%20of%20the%20Focus/DSCN2686.jpg
And AAA helped buy me a shiny new MS3. I haven't even got pics of it yet because it's parked in the garage all winter while I drive my company car, and 08 Escape XLT. Maybe I'll add a pic of that too :)

Laloosh...Just wanted a change. I had two SRT's...an 03 and an 05 pictured above. I got bored driving around in the same car for 4 years..lol. I loved the feel of a turbo 4 banger....rode in a local guys MS3 and fell in love. So much smoother and not as raw. Srt was an amazing car though. If I could have afforded to keep both, I would have. Would love to have one as a track monster.

Drove this for almost 8 years, it's been broken into 6 times and stolen once, plus someone attempted to steal it, but the motor wouldn't turn over (timing and carb issues) so they couldn't drive off with it. Kinda sucks when you're a teenager pouring your hard earned minimum wage into your truck just to have it taken away by some piece of shit too lazy to go out and get a job themselves. Oh yea, and I couldn't afford full coverage insurance, I only had liability!

2004 Mazda3 hatch 2.3 liter. Made the upgrade to the MS3 a no-brainer.
2000 Dodge Dakota standard cab with V8 - upgraded intake and exhaust - that truck got up and went.
1989 Pontiac Sunbird SE with turbo package. Rode like a buckboard and talk about torque steer! A real sleeper though. I used to have fun surprising people with that car.
65 Chevelle project/daily driver with 350. Starving student - I had to give it up because I needed a windshield and couldn't get the money together. I would still own that car otherwise.
Triumph TR6 - dual sidedrafts that you synchronized using a straw to listen to how loud they were in relation to each other. Not kidding - the technique was in the manual. Great car until the frame rusted out.
Some others in there, but none worth remembering.

I drove a 1997 Ford Probe GT for 11 years prior to purchasing my Speed 3 in Feb. 08. It was a fun car to drive but needed more power. I had CAI, Test pipe, straight thru muffler and light weight RX-7 FD rims. I also did a rear seat delete to lighten the car. It was quick, but nothing like the Speed 3

Here's some of my past drives:
This is me in my 1992 Miata:

In two different ITR's (I know, Boooo Honda!):
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride002.jpg

Then there was this very embarrassing, but very necessary 1989 Nissan "support truck" (still have it):

Even more embarrassing was this 1995 Eclipse from my ricier days:

Autocrossing wasn't fast enough, so I got into bikes:

My most recent past ride, a 2002 Jeep Liberty which I traded for the Speed3:

Here's some of my past drives:
This is me in my 1992 Miata:
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride001.jpg
In two different ITR's (I know, Boooo Honda!):
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride002.jpg
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride003.jpg
Then there was this very embarrassing, but very necessary 1989 Nissan "support truck" (still have it):
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride003a.jpg
Even more embarrassing was this 1995 Eclipse from my ricier days:
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride003b.jpg
Autocrossing wasn't fast enough, so I got into bikes:
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride004.jpg
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride005.jpg
My most recent past ride, a 2002 Jeep Liberty which I traded for the Speed3:
http://www.hotwasabi.com/pastrides/pastride006.jpg
There were a few others along the way that I don't have pix of:
- 1978 Dodge Diplomat
- 1986 Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S
- 1981 Honda Accord
- 1976 Yamaha XS650

I think most of us went thru the "Ricer" phase so don't be so hard on yourself.

Toyota Tacoma TRD/4WD/V6, to be sold soon. Great truck, but hardly any time to take it to its natural habitat (offroad) anymore, and 90% of my driving now is commuting. Coming from years driving pickups, the MS3 is a "holy F**K" experience every time.

I had a long line of cars passed down to me after I first got my license which all seemed to die within a year of getting:
1987 Chevrolet Celebrity
1986 Oldsmobile Cutlas
1992 Honda Accord (2xx,000 miles)
Then I bought a 1991 protege which got destroyed and sent me to the hospital in a hit and run. For a while I drove my girlfriend's 1998 Dodge Stratus, when her headgasket blew we shared her sister's Saturn SL1, I bought a $500 Ford Ranger to get me around before buying my first real project car, my 1996 Acura Integra
I had a tendency of getting $100 sets of wheels on craigslist, and went through about 4 sets over the course of owning the car. I sounddeadened the entire inside, did a tan to black interior conversion (painting and replacing parts) and did some other fun things. Just sold it to get the mazdaspeed3.

Yep. Counting my wife there were a few more Fords a Jetta VR6, minivans, etc. Gotta say the Pontiac was trouble. V6 Contour 5sp was one of my favorite under-appreciated cars.
The way I see it the MS3 is the SVT Focus that Ford will never build!

'95 Mercury Sable - Gifted by pops when I crashed the 240SX. Got me from A to B, and through the rest of college. 30mpg highway was hard to argue with. Started giving me problems, and decided it was finally time for me to have a new, nice car, and ended up with the MS3. Traded in for the MS3; dealer gave me $300.

I feel the same about my Speed3. The RX-8 can out handle it (even though the Speed3 handles great), but raw power the 8 lacks. The Speed3 makes up for it nicely :D
94 mustang v6: 140hp outta 3.8L but still broke two motors
91 3000gt vr4: dr650 trubos, 660ccs... fun, fast, unreliable, and heavy
05 wrx: EcuTek dyno tune w/ TBE 230awhp
06 yamaha R1: lolz first bike ever and it had 180hp, sooo nuts, then it got stolen
06 magnum SRT8: great power, no LSD!!! $450/month in gas

89 Ford Probe GT - 2.2L turbo, fast but broke down half the time i owned it (literally)
86 Chevy Camaro - 305, automatic (hated that), shitty in the snow, but for for doughnuts
01 Saturn SC2 - econo box, the only redeeming qualities was a good sound system and manual trany
08 MS3 - Best. Car. Ever.
FritzTCoyote

63 Corvair Spider (first turbo... sweet)
66 Barracuda ('S' package, Power. Lots of Power.)
65 Ford Econoline Van. Slow, handled like a fart in a shovel, but hauled ass, if you catch my meaning.
65 ish Triumph TR4A. Best handling car, most fun to drive, and the first car I managed to outrun the cops in. Yes, it was on a Very Twisty Road.
70-something Renault R10. Nice car except for the POS automated transmission.
66 VW Beetle. Unkillable. The only car I ever made a profit on.
79 Chevy 4x4 pickup. A Monster. Rusted out too young, but lots of fun in heavy traffic. Even Boston Cab Drivers were afraid of it.
86 Jeep Cherokee. Again with the 4WD. I was living in snow country, and had to get to work no matter the weather. A great ride except woefully underpowered by a crappy GM 2.8 liter v6. 5 speed tranny made it livable, as did the excellent AC, and predictable handling no matter how bad driving conditions got. Oddly enough, I once outran a state trooper with this (it was in a heavy snowstorm, and if he had managed to catch up with me in his Mustang I would have pulled right over).
91 Ford Bronco. Big Ass V8. Hated going around corners. Never got better than 8 mpg. My ex-wife got it in the divorce, and Good Riddance.
02 PT Cruiser. 5 speed, NA. A nice, practical small wagon. By the time I got done tweaking it it was reasonably quick and handled OK.
08 MS3. Duh. The most fun to drive since the Triumph, and far more reliable.
(of course it is competing with memories of my well-wasted youth, when I had more hair, more girlfriends, and more time to play).

Yeah, the wrx was a very nice car. It was a 2002 with better wheels, and a re-flash on the chip with catback. I miss the awd, although even with the mild mods it wasn't as quick as my speed3 with cai.
I think the Mazda is a better looking car also.

73 Mercury Montego station wagon, moms old car
70 Nova SS with a 283. I put a lot of engines in that car. My engine stand always had something on it I was messing with.
73 Impala 2 door, NC car. Perfect body. Put about 6 different engines in it. Including a 70 LS5 454 bored to 468, ported and polished small port open chambered heads. The ultimate sleeper.
73 Impala beater car. Spent it's last days having a blast "Field Bombing"
70 Buick GSX Stage 1 455, bored and head work. Kick me for selling it.
84 Honda Nighthawk S, put 60000 miles on it.
86 Grand National, purchased new. Kick me again for selling it.
Tons of problems with it. But still loved it. Beautiful car.
87 Integra, purchased for the wife.
88 Integra. Put 272000 miles on it. Loved that car. Guttless, but was a blast to drive on a good road.
94 Z/28 6 speed now with 182000 miles. Modded with 340 RWHP. Still on the original shortblock and can't kill it. I've tried.
96 Kawasaki ZX-11, nuff said. It was fast.
07 Mazdaspeed3, pushing 30000 miles.

93 honda civic dx 4 door
85 Jaguar XJS v12
93 Geo prism lsi
85 Toyota Supra
88 Oldsmobile Cutlass calais
91 Honda CRX si
85 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme (just sold this)

85 Dodge ram
82 Dodge ram 3/4 ton
85 Ford Bronco
87 Ford Bronco
07 Honda Fit Sport
07 Mazdaspeed 3
It has been a strange collection and has had its ups and downs for sure. My favorites being the Jaguar, the supra and the CRX. The speed 3 has been a lot of fun too, but I had the other cars when I was a teenager so they seemed way more bad ass than they probably really were.

Ok, so I found some pics of the last car I drove before the speed3 while going through a backup on an external drive. This was my college "i just need it to run for 4 years without a single problem and then trash it" car. By the time I went to trade it in on the speed after graduation, this thing was falling apart (check engine light always on, burned oil like crazy, collapsed lifter, exhaust falling off, synchros in 2nd and reverse going bad, etc). Remembering it makes owning the speed that much more satisfying.

Really the only car before the MS3 that was *mine* (everything else has been shared car w/ the wife) was an '82 Subaru BRAT. White, rusted out, seats knifed out of the back, exhaust falling off, blue smoke when I turned her on... so amazing. I miss that cruck so bad. Looked very similar to this:

Drove alot of cars, but lets start with the important ones:
88 GMC Jimmy, winter beater, material carrier, dog hauler
98 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, first love
07 Chevy HHR, drove and looked like a milk truck, traded in
08.5 Mazda MS3, new and second love
(alright)
I don't know. I kinda like the look of the HHR. I like the spaciousness of the interior. I have not seen an SS yet.

In order of appearance ...
Didn't own, but drove: [All automatics]
- 1955 Chrysler Imperial Sedan Big Hemi (392?) 2bbl carb 2sp push-button auto would downshift to low at 55 mph if you stomped it, and the front end would rise and shift into high, screaming (no tachometer) at 70. Best pic I could find http://tinyurl.com/3ube7v

- 1968 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron 440ci high compression 4bbl Very torque-ey fast for big car

Cars I owned:
- 1968 Rambler Ambassador sedan 343ci 2bbl. It's a Rambler! I especially recall the "Desert Only" AC setting, and the Quadraphonic 8-track (think Rush 2112) with stolen drive-in speakers in the front. Oh, and the front split seats that folded down flush with the backs. High school fun. No pics to be found.
- 1966 Dodge Polara 2dr hardtop w/ 383 2bbl. Drove it through college Cool looking but handled like crap. Looks like this http://tinyurl.com/3l9bnt but mine was Green
- 1981 Toyota Tercel 3 door hatch w/5sp 63hp! Sorry no pic.
- 1985 Toyota Tercel 3 door hatch w/5sp Too boring for pics
- 1989 Toyota Camry DX V6 auto Ditto on pics

I'm new here and unsure how to post a question to the members. Here's a list of questions, perhaps somebody could forward this, or give me directions on how to post it correctly:
o Just bought 08 MS3 GT. I'm a freak about breaking in new cars carefully, so what is the soonest I should change the oil?
o Any thoughts on synthetic vs regular oil? Turbos tend to run hotter, but I've always followed the practice of using regular oils and changing frequently (every 3,000 or so)
o Do you REALLY have to let the engine idle for 30 - 60 seconds before turning it off, even if you've been driving easily?
o Any recommendations on wax/polish, or what tires are best (currently have the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 - 215/45 - 18's, I beleive)
o My last car was a Honda S2000 - exceptional handler, but can't touch the torque and mid-range acceleration of the MS3. I'm enjoying the MS3 way more than the S2K, as it was VERY noisy and cramped and not nearly as practical for most purposes
That's it - thanks in advance for help

I prefer using Synthetic, but That was on my SRT-4 and Eclipse GSX. I used 0w40 Mobil 1 in both of those vehicles and the cars ran alot smoother doing so.
To be honest, You don't have to let the car idle after driving easy. Most Turbo cars now days are oil and water cooled and to idle is just not needed. If youre powering through gears and the car is hot, then yea I would say its a good idea to do so, but if you just drove to the mall and cruised through the parkinglot at a slow pace, then no.
For tires I love the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 StarSpecs. I plan to switch over to them as soon as I get settled into my new job. I had the Z1s on my SRT and absolutely loved them. By far my favorite street tire. They held the 332whp and 354ft.lbs very well; and the low low low 12 second passes on those tires were a big plus and the stiff sidewalls allowed for very crisp cornering.
I think its funny when people talk about the torque of the MZR motor. I think its lacking in this department. But then again, I did trade in an 11 second car in for my MS3.

I saw an Imperial up at the Carlisle, PA car show a few years ago, I really wanted that car. It was different, not like all the Mustangs, Camaros, and Chevelles.
The Speed3 is my first new car too. It's the fastest, but my Mustang GTs are fun too, and cruising with the top down in my MGB and Fiat 124 was also fun.

My speed 3 is my second mazda.
Several years ago I built up an 72 RX-2 with twin sequential turbos, dual 4bbl weber side draft carbs and a lot of work on the fuel/spark setup. Ended up scaring me so bad I sold the thing. All go and not much stop :(
There was a lot about rotary engines I loved, but with gas prices the way they are, I quickly gravitated to the speed3.
For quite a number of years I never thought about getting a mazda, I figured the excitement stopped with the rx7, and frankly that car grew out of reach for most people until it was retired. Let's face it, MPVs and 626 etc.. was just uninspired compared to the competition. I am very happy to see the brand return to it's roots somewhat with the exciting rides they are building now.

86 Honda Civic DX Sedan-Manual
94 Honda Civic EX Coupe-Manual
91 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo-Auto
30 Nissan 300ZX Non-Turbo-Manual
91 Nissan 240SX Fastback-Auto
Of course all of these vehicles I modded, well the 86er only had an intak ebut everything else was decently to heavily modded.
A couple other cars that are linked to me & I used a lil are:
96 Toyota Corolla-Auto Not sure of trim model
mid 90's Hyundai Elantra-Auto Not sure of trrim model
03 Mecedes-Benz C230 Sports Sedan-Auto
Been years driving a FR car & drifting locally while our track was open here, still kinda getting used to being back in a FF car & still rolling on the stock suspension for now. Lots of my previous cars I concentrated on suspension first which I think is the way to go anyway. No sense making your car faster if it can't handle the power right? Plus I love the corners. :) That and I would get the settings so stiff like I like it that the wife would almost dread riding in the car. :) Love the MS3 though!!! A definite must-have or experience.

I sold the jetta around the time I got my MS3 in July. From that time, I haven't had any time to drive the bug around since there is a little bit of tinkering to do with the engine every so often. The bug is a little bit faster with a 1.75 60ft and 9.0 1/8 mile. I built the engine for torque so it builds power very quickly.

Nice Bug but I wouldn't say it was faster than a MS3 with a 9.0 1/8th as I've ran 9.0 in the 1/8th with just SRI but others have run 9.0 stock. Now that 1.75 60ft a MS3 on street tires can't match.

I had a turbo on it until I got the MS3, it's going back to NA so that I can beat the piss out of it all day long and not worry about breaking anything. Before the Miata I drove an '86 Chrysler New Yorker with the 2.2L turbo motor, biggest shit pile ever! Then again, it WAS a K car. Thanks Chrysler!
