2008.5 MAZDASPEED3 - Now in CRYSTAL WHITE and METROPOLITAN GRAY

EXTERIOR ENHANCEMENTS:
Sunlight Silver and Cosmic Blue are being discontinued. That's right. If you want one of these colors: Buy now, or say goodbye. Because starting January 2008, there's a new color line up.

The new line up of colors is Black Mica, True Red, Crystal White Pearl Mica, and Metropolitan Gray Mica (a unique charcoal gray which was on the Anniversary Edition RX-8 for one year).

INTERIOR ENHANCEMENTS:
This is where things get juicy.

Everything that was once a Dark Gray trim is now being replaced with PIANO BLACK (center console, decorative strip, trim panels, switch panels, steering trim, etc.) The Decoration panel will now also include a MAZDASPEED logo. (my guess is it'll be engraved in)

All CD players are now MP3 compatible.



That's right, the seats for the Grand Touring are now listed as black alcantara with leather bolsters.

Acording to the source The White is not a NEW color to the Whole lineup so it dosent say that its added. Just like it dosent say that SS has been deleted because you can still get it on the MZ3. Maybe this will help.....

I told the dealer that I would be sold if a white MS3 came out because I have a black p5 now and am on a white trend as of late. But when they originally came out NO WHITE. So honestly, I might save to buy a white one since I am selling the P5 and working right now . . .

The car is doing great business...it takes nothing more than a nod from Mazda to make more of them to meet demand, and it appears they are doing so. Our cars are no longer going to be as unique.

I have been keeping track of the Speed3 inventory in the San Fran area and they are moving very briskly. I'd say each new one is sold in no more than 1-2 weeks if that. I saw speed6 that was not sold for like 6 months. So the Speed3 are doing well. I sure hope when I pick mine up I won't start to see one on every block like the Civic Si. That would take the fun out of owning a Speed3.

Ah I remember when I was buying my Cosmic Blue, I was looking at the crystal white pearl 3hb in the showroom and thinking man I wish I could have that color, then months later I found out that Canada got it, I was pissed, now their bringing it here, well Im just as pissed but atleast my car will look dated to everyone though, like those orange Srt4s, you know what year they are because of the color, you think in the back of your head ha ha you didnt get to pick the Si Blue, instead you got poop orange, lol aahhh j/K. Which makes it rare at the same time.... I'm very much interested in the interior pieces, like the gloss black parts. My '08 Tribute has that in it, and it is GORGEOUS! Seriously, it just sets it off in the interior! If that is really truly coming to the MS3, I will find a way to purchase those parts and slap them in mine.

If you have ever had a white car before, you would never want another.

White shows dirt the opposite of black. Where black shows DUST it does not show bug spots, tar, road grime etc.

White does not show DUST, but it will show everything else. Every bug you hit you will see, every rock chip, spec of road tar etc.

I normally have black cars (MY MS3 included) but in 2000 I traded in my Black Volvo 850T for a White Chevy Pickup (Got a Saint Bernard and needed the back).

I WILL NEVER, have another white car. EVER. I swear I spent HOURS cleaning the front of that Truck and it was a losing battle. Between the rock chips, tar and bugs I could not keep that front clean.

Yah black shows Dust and Pollen as well as WaterMarks and Swirls. But if you do your washing, drying and polishing right, the only thing you will see is Dust/Pollen (In about 10m but oh well)

Wait till you wash the front of your MS3 in like 2mins without having to bust out the tar/bug remover and scrub pad. Not to mention inside the wheel well lip and the bottom of the doors behing the front wheels.

Agree 100% Best color I've ever had on a car as far as keeping clean. I've had white, black, maroon and blue. Blacks the worst followed closely by white.

But that Gray looks amazing! And I'm really bummed about the MP3 thing. I so thought mine played MP3's when I bought it and was pissed when I found out the truth.

To get rid of dust on your black car get a California Car Duster...it is only $9 at Target and worth every penny. Won't help much with water marks, but it cleans up dust very well and will extend your car wash interval.

Look AND feel awesome. Those alcantara inserts are gonna be sweet. Thats the same material that they use on the porsche 911 GT3 interior. It is soft, durable, and all around an awesome upgrade.

I put a deposit on it and they did a credit check and loosley valued my trade because it will be APRIL/MAY when my new car arrives. I was talking to the MANAGER on how he verified. He called a big-shot Northeast Region Mazda Sales/Supply guy who verified. They said the order I made will be placed with the factory as soon as they make the switch to 2008.5s. I just hope that the new gt alcantara seats will be heated like the base 3 gt models, probably not because there was no mention but all other info posted here on first page is accurate.

In summary: Order Paper filled out, Money down, Car arrives April or May... White MS3 GT in America, ill be one of the first. (2thumbs)

$100 is about the mininum amount you can put down on a car to place an order. It puts your name on the order sheet and no one can take it from you by putting more money down or anything else, it is basically a contract signed with cash guaranteeing you this car.
I didnt try to negotiate the price tonite and with the value of my trade up in the air, i wont have to until they have a delivery date for me. thats when my trade gets valued for real and it gives me the chance to haggle. Although the fact that i came to them for this car and they did not have to "sell" it to me doesnt give me much leverage in bargaining. I will try to knock $500 off the msrp but will not pay a penny more than sticker.
The dealer knows to call me when the order is placed, the car is manufactured, when the car is in port, and when it will be delivered. Im going along for the safety-check drive as soon as it gets off the truck so I know my car is treated right. i have it all planned out, any more questions, i will try to answer them.

yea you can walk away from anything.... up till you signed the papers. this is only on a NEW car. if its a used you can buy a 2day cancellation. which means that you can drive the car for 2days and take it back without any other fees. also a dealer can charge you a restocking fee to take the car back without the 2day cancellation. i jus looked this up on the dmv site

Look at the other chart that I posted right below that. The reason they didnt say anything about adding the white on the shet is because the sheet is for the entire 3 lineup and CWP is not a NEW color to the whole lineup. Just like it dosent say that SS is being discontinued on the MS3 because it will still be available on the MZ3.

The real treat is for the MZ3 buyers they get 4 NEW colors... well Copper red isint new but its cool that its making a comeback. Also the MZ3 Grang touring get the added power seat( Did it have that before?)

i can vouch for this also, my wife's is300 is wearing horribly, and we're careful getting in and out of the car always.

i'm more pissed off at the mp3 feature. i can live with silver, but i was asking the dealer when i bought it why does canada and the regular 3 get pearl white but not the ms3 :( i got mine sept 22, and i would have gladly waited as well if i knew it was coming.

maintenance of this material is definitely required, but if it is cleaned and treated properly it should be way more wear resistant than regular suede

All this talk from CB owners about how cool it is for their color to be MS specific and all... shut it! lol no offense but... I'm just not feelin that color. Everytime I see one, it looks purple to me. Granted, having an orange MSP, I know a thing or two about love it/hate it colors so my opinion really means jack... but it's NOT a reason to go buy one. Hell, if Mazda had a puke green color that was specific to the mazdaspeed3... would you urge people to buy one for that reason? of course not. in the end, it comes down to the color... what looks good and... well, what doesn't.

Lastly... I'm bummed about Silver being discontinued. That to me was the best color. It matched the wheels perfectly and, for whatever reason, that looked sweet.

As much as I'd like to get a silver... buying a car like this right before/during the winter season isn't smart. So... I'll be holding out like most of you for either a white or that metro gray... The cool thing about the MG is, like the silver matching the wheels, it won't be hard to achieve the same effect (on the stock wheels no less). A little excess brake dust and you're all set! haha

I burn MP3 CD's all the time. For road trips and such. That will probably stop when I get my sansa view though.

Yup. 10 hr drive. 2 MP3 Cds and I'm set there and back. Although for around town, hooking up your MP3 player is the better choice.

We have had the white for a while (Canada) and I think it is fierce looking - I think that's the best word to describe it - fierce!

EXTERIOR ENHANCEMENTS:
Sunlight Silver and Cosmic Blue are being discontinued. That's right. If you want one of these colors: Buy now, or say goodbye. Because starting January 2008, there's a new color line up.

The new line up of colors is Black Mica, True Red, Crystal White Pearl Mica, and Metropolitan Gray Mica (a unique charcoal gray which was on the Anniversary Edition RX-8 for one year).

INTERIOR ENHANCEMENTS:
This is where things get juicy.

Everything that was once a Dark Gray trim is now being replaced with PIANO BLACK (center console, decorative strip, trim panels, switch panels, steering trim, etc.) The Decoration panel will now also include a MAZDASPEED logo. (my guess is it'll be engraved in)

All CD players are now MP3 compatible.

Not too bad, really. I have an 08 Tribute with this piano-black interior trim, same style as planned in the new MS3. It isn't too bad with scratches, especially if you coat it with good wax (Zaino for me)...I've scratched it with a metal tool, but it somewhat buffed right out! It is so pretty though...I really like the idea of swapping my interior parts to this stuff.

That is the most attractive feature now on the the gt but i ordered a white one and i will not have the same ability to haggle the final price as a guy who walks off the street and wants a car that is on the lot. If there is no price increase for the 2008.5 or an extra charge for white (like in canada) then there is something like a $1600 difference in price for the sport to the gt,... I would rather spend that on upgrades (clearbra, tint, springs) than have the alacantara, hids, and bose.

call me crazy, i had regret as soon as i got off the phone with the dealership to change my order from gt to sport but i plan on spending $2000 on upgrades.

If you're in the market, check cnet for the latest reviews on portable navs... or better yet, do what I did and get yourself a pioneer avic d3. Metra makes a nice dash kit for double din HUs.

Considering nobody has even seen the seats on the new car, I wouldn't necessarily say you're crazy for buying a sport. (especially based on the reasons you gave.) I WOULD, however, say you're crazy for buying one the way you did and thus, killing your chances of getting a deal.

I was THIS close to buying an MS3 a couple weeks ago. Had them down to $100 over (the actual, not their BS) invoice. Would've been a sweet deal but I'm glad (especially now) that I bailed. (unlike most, I'm diggin the metro grey color) Point is... Even with white being as popular as it is, eventually the excitement will die down (just like it did when the car first came out) and there will be excess inventory to be had... at rock bottom prices.

If you need to be the first to have one THAT bad... go for it. But when the average person keeps a car for 3+ years, waiting an extra couple months or so in order to trim a grand or more off the principal makes sound financial sense.

yeah, if you special order a car, it is the set price. usually msrp. keep in mind though. invoice to msrp markup is only around 1500-1600.

one thing i would suggest is to be nice and respectful. you can negotiate and still be pleasant to deal with. if you negotiate and are an ass to me, i am not going to help you out in the future if you have any problems. so be respectful. but if you catch one of these salesmen who is stupid and obviously lying, ask to speak with them general sales manager. they typically bend over backwards to make someone happy.
if you plan on ordering start by saying you know it has 1500 in markup and you would be willing to go ahead and order one i they would split it to 750 over. all they can say is no. "if you never ask, the answer is always no"

Certain types of cars demand this more than others. When you look at the options list on this car, it's rather barren. Compare it to... I don't know, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and you'll see like 50x the amount of possibilities.

For cars like that, if you have discerning tastes and can't find the EXACT car you're looking for on the lot, I agree... specially ordering it is the (only) way to go.

No test drive miles sounds good... but you can usually find cars on a lot with little-to-no miles. Hell, you can just have them call you when one arrives since they come on a faily regular basis. It'll still have the plastic on it and everything.

Competing with other buyers? yeah, that'll happen... early on in the model cycle. But once things die down... and they will... you'll have the upper hand again.

i think it was from automobile mag since it kinda says that in the lower right. but the issue came out last year. late summer or early fall. because they were testing a gray one and a white one if i remember correctly. some people think it is the metropolitan gray expected to come out but i don't remember ever reading that. maybe someone still has that issue lying around the house.

Ordered my MS3 a couple of weeks ago, wanted the Cosmic Blue, but I got a call from the sales guy telling me about these changes. So had to change my color choice, decided to go with the Metro Gray.

:D Don't flame me because I didn't get the white, it was a hard choice between the 2 but thought the gray would be a little easier to keep clean. (and the wife liked the gray) :)

While it's impossible to decipher based on the terminology they used, if they make the #s (and not the face) while... they'll be making a HUGE mistake.

Think about the type of cars that have white backlit #s... vs those that have red. Huge difference... for a reason.

I think what they are going to do with the gauges is like they have in the rx8.
Durring the daytime the numbers are white but at night the change to red. I think it will be an improvement to say the least.

Its cool they came out with the update, but I really wanted the Cosmic Blue. I guess 6 disks full of MP3 files will have to make up for it.

My 08.5 is being made right now, got an email from my dealer. Says they should send me an email with the VIN within the next couple weeks. Being in the military its not really a Dealership, and if they don't have the car you want they have to special order it. I told the guy to see if he could get me some pics of what the changes look like. Hope he does.

In 99 I special ordered a Chevy Malibu and they actually sent me pics of while it was on the assembly line, one pic had the VIN.

I just found out, if I would have went with the white, he said It would have been $173 more. Other than that I don't think there is a mark up. My dealer didn't find out my car was going to be an 08.5 until after he made the order for my 08 GT. Other than the paint, the price is the same as far as I know.

nope. any updates won't be out until early 08 from what the spec deck says. production is still scheduled for january 2008. being i work for a dealership, i can see when mine is produced, receives a VIN, is on water, is at port, and ships from port. so i will keep everyone updated. also, when the time comes i can check other dealerships to see what they have coming if anyone on the forums is curious.

that interior will only be available on 2008.5 ms3's that start production in january. i wouldn't expect them to be available in February.

well it probably was the wrong spot but no harm. i was just going to say the galaxy gray is the only gray for the Mazda 3. the metro gray will be a special color only available on the 40th anni. rx8 and mazdaspeed3. i personallly love the galaxy gray. no matter what mazda it is on, it looks good. it is one of the more popular colors on my car lot.

No go on the 8.5, those will be out probly in april.

Invoice on a sport is 21,500 after the destination charge is added. Some people don't believe me but I payed 19,939 on an 07 sport. Last 07 they had left so I guess they wanted to move it. I believe it will be much harder to get below invoice on an 08 model.

Yea production will start in jan but they will take till about april to get here. THe dealer I talked to knew about the white but said it would not be an 8.5 it will just be an 8.

After seeing a few white cars, I think I like the Gray better anyways. I have a gray car that I'm selling, and it looks good. I was thinking white to be different, but Gray seem to reflect better than white. White is so bright that you really can't see your own image. :)

Other than that, white is very JDM, and I won't be oppose to it if I can't get the Gray. I'm not too fond of Black or Red (or Silver or Mica Blue).

If I get an 8, it'd be Black though.

My dealer says they can order a Gray 8.5, but it will be March when it comes in. And also they say they don't know the price of the 8.5 yet.

If need be, I'm going to fix the MP3 deficiency with a Garmin nuvi 760 GPS - it's a nice GPS with an MP3 player built in. Also adds hands-free Bluetooth for phones. Kills *3* birds with one stone. :)

Oh, and for those are wondering, my current car is a 2000 Nissan Sentra SE that's turboed. It's a fun ride, and again, love the color. :)

As you can see, my brother has a VW GTI that's also Gray (lighter shade though). So that's why I was kinda torn between Gray (already had Gray cars before, lol) and White... I'm a one color man... :p

Well here's the RX-8 in Metro Grey...

One would have to assume the paint will be the same... Notice how much lighter it looks in the second picture due to the lighting. Personally, I F'in love it! Only thing though... the MS3 wheels do not fit this color at all. Only black spoked wheels with chrome rims will do.

tell them to check their intranet. i had my dealer look at that. they didnt know anything. also it tells them how many they are getting and about when they will get them. im still waitin to pay off some bills to get mine but i still bug my sales person to let me know if anything else changes. if i hear anything ill post
