Ok so on corksport they have the:
MS Protege OEM LSD $620
These are the same factory LSD units found in the Mazdaspeed Protege.
And in protegegarage.com they have:
Welded Mazdaspeed Torsen Style Limited Slip Differential $619.00
FREE SHIPPING. Released by Mazdaspeed in 2006 to revise and replace the prior Limited Slip models in the Mazdaspeed Protege. Unlike the competition's differential, this is a new part with complete install kit for pain-free installation. Gain more traction and launch better with this Mazdaspeed Torsen Style Limited Slip Differential for your Protege. This differential more even distributes wheel horsepower to the ground than a stock open differential would, enabling better launches and acceleration, more power coming out of a turn and better control. Includes all locking nuts, bearings, ring and gear to install in your transmission. DON'T BUY A BROKEN AND REWELDED OR USED WELDED UNIT!!! THIS IS A NEW OEM QUALITY PART THAT IS PROFESSIONALLY WELDED TO ENSURE NO BREAKAGE UNDER HIGHER HORSEPOWER OR RACE USE.
My question is are they the same? What is the different? Should I even bother? and will it fit my MP5?

The old style is no longer available so this is the only option aside from the quaife for like $1800. But be sure to order one that has had the casing welded for strength. This is typically where they break. Anything is better than one-wheel-peel!!

Im not sure if the LSD corksport is selling is welded or not. I'm getting protegegarages's welded LSD, and it also comes with the nuts, bolts and bearings. But if you plan on pushing much higher HP like 300whp and higher just save up and get the Quaife.

The corksport one is just the OEM LSD.
Ken at Protegegarage has them tig welded if you want him to.
You can get the Quaife for $1400 if you join the Mazdaspeed Motorsports... if you race SCCA.
I have the Quaife... I love it.
It feels 100x better than the msp lsd in the corners.
If you want a cheap, easy install, get the welded OEM lsd through Ken.

i am told you do not have to be an SCCA member to join MMS now, is this not true?

You don't have to be a SCCA member.
You only need proof that you've raced 2 SCCA sanctioned events every year (simply forward the official results).

Cool, so im not going to see anything over 200HP any time soon, Im installing lots of good stuff this month. Now how would this help my mods? Is it worth it on our MP5? Also Ken this will bolt on my tranny right? Or should I spend the $600 some where else,

because the car had to much damage to the rear quarter, nothing to do with the trans or anything.
just body damage
.......and I am a auto tech,I will make sure before any deal is made.
