rear caliper locked up!!

when i use my ebrake everything is fine... when i go to release it the right rear one wont move unless i hit it with a hammer... can i grease it or something? or do i have to get a new one?

there is probably a crack on the rupper protection over the cable(so water goes in and rust appears),so i would suggest you to remove it from the caliper,and then,shoot some spray grease between the cable and the protection rubber tube,then pull and push in to make the grease go all the way in it...you should be good...

anyways if you need to change the cable,wich is absolutely normal after 5-6 years of using it,it cost around 50$ at any autoparts place,or even at mazda,and about a half hour to change,so if i was you,i d replace it right away,your safety depends on it!!!

^^Yeah, mine does this as well- but only if it's cold with snow on the ground. And in that case, the wheel won't release until I either hit a patch of clean pavement (I drug the wheel for a couple miles the first time it happened) or if I back up.

I just replaced both of my rears (and rotors). I did everything I could to get the old calipers in good working order, but they were done. 100,000 miles though- without so much as a pad change, so I'm not bitchin' (too much).

I had to replace one of the rear calipers, cause the e-brake siezed up. When I pulled the ebrake it did nothing to hold the wheel. One of the bolts was seized so i had to replace it. I am also coming close to 100,000 miles. Seems like many people have had this problem.
