I am planning to put an engine from the MP3 into my MSP. I've heard that the only difference is the oil line that "has to be drilled into the MP3 block" but I have a question. This MP3 engine seems to have the same place as the MSP to hook up the oil line that goes to the turbo, but it's plugged. I'm just curious if this is the right place to hook up the oil line, and if I could just take the filter and oil line off my MSP engine and put it directly onto the MP3 engine.

Photo of the MP3 is the first photo (you gotta look at it upside down), the MSP is the 2nd photo.

The feed should work, the oil return is the difference. msp has different upper oil pan than other cars for the return line.

Is that a stock MSP photo in the second picture? That looks like an aftermarket oil feed. Maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about, but I don't remember the stock MSP feed line being at the stock oil pressure sender location (I'm looking during my lunch hour).

FYI, that location will work as the previous two have stated. If you decide to go with that feed location make sure you use the correct fittings. It looks like they did the following:

1/8 BSPT male adapter goes into block, attaches to tee
1/8 BSPT female tee, which has off of it
- Stock pressure sender @ 1/8 BSPT
- 1/8 BSPT Male to 1/4 NPT male (or the equivalent AN size to fit the oil line)

livelyjay, are you sure you own an MSP? maybe you don't do your own oil changes?

I do, but I've never really looked up there very closely. I just grab the oil filter with my hand and pull it off.

That is my MSP.. I was thinking of just switching everything from my MSP block to the MP3 block.. since I have bent rods in the MSP block anyway.

Remove the MP3 oil sender and screw the MSP oil T in place. Then attach the oil feed line.

Next, you need to pull the oil filter threaded shaft out of the msp block along with the oil cooler, 29mm nut, and lines.
Remove the nut first pull the cooler off. Put the nut back on and screw an old oil filter on it and use a wrench 29mm or 1 1/8" on the nut to jam it on the filter and it should break the shaft loose. Use a set of vise grips on the mp3 one and toss that out when you're done. Replace the orange O-ring behind the oil cooler or you will be haunted with oil leaks in the future.

Nice set of instructions. Why does he need to swap out the oil filter shaft (I am obviously a dolt when it comes to the MSP oil setup)?

To have the MSP oil cooler fit on the MP3 block. The threaded shaft for the oil filter is longer in the MSP to accept the oil cooler. Metallic36, the feed line to the turbo is easy. The return line is the tricky part. If I were you I would remove the aluminum valence tray (that's what I call it) off the MSP block and put it on the MP3 block. Then the MSP stock oil return line will work as normal.
