Hey, I'm in Vancouver, BC looking to buy an MP3 or a MSP. I was wondering where these cars are made? I'm asking because I'm thinking of importing one from the US, and if they're made in north america I'd get a break on duty fees. If they're made in Japan or some other country, there'd be no such luck.

I have a MP3 and inn the inside of my door it says that they were made 90 something % in japan. But I think the MSP had final assembly in Canada.

ya.. all mazda's are based in Japan, most fords too, like the ranger. they might have some final assembly in north america but I dont know how that works for duty fees.

Rangers are built in Minnesota. The mazda B-series sold in north america has been built in Minnesota since 94. FYI. eventhough that is very off topic.

Well I do guess that is right, the Ranger and Mazda B series are built in the US since 1994. But that is only the North American Ranger (ones sold here in Canada and in the US).

Still safe to say if you ask me that MOST Mazda's are build in Japan, the Protege definatly is... If it was "modified" to a MP3 or MSP here in North America I do not know.

I dont' know of any Mazda made in the us right now. I know in the protege the only things that were not made in Japan were the seat belts and the ecu.

The Tribute is built on the same line as the Ford Escape in Kansas City. <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class="j hc">The standard Mazda 6 is built in Flat Rock, Michigan - (due to its complexity, the Mazdaspeed 6 comes from Hofu, Japan). The Protege and the MP3 come in from Hiroshima, Japan with the MP3 getting its special parts added at the dock. They did the Mazdaspeed the same way.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

The Protege itself is built in Japan, but all the Racing Beat goodies were added on once it reached our shores.

Makes sence, as Racing Beat is in Cali.
