The end of Audi RS4 production is coming sooner than expected, according to Dutch website Autoblog. Audi's RS model of the A4 will begin to die a somewhat-temporary death, with production of the sedan ending in early November.

Avant models should begin disappearing from the landscape before 2008 rolls in, with the Cabrio hanging on to dear life a little bit longer, reports the Dutch site.

Eventually, the new A4 will have a model badged as an RS, but until then Audi celebrants will have the choice of either using the new A4 as a stop-gap or switching to competitors' models. Rival models include the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-Benz C63.

Production dates of a new RS4 are unknown.

Wait, Autoblog is Dutch? Or is there a different Autoblog?

I heard the rumors before, but hoped they weren't true. This makes me sad. Hopefully, it's just so they can start working on something even more badass.

Its the same Autoblog.

I guess you learn something new every day. I am literally on that site about a dozen times a day, and never had a clue that it was Dutch.

Well, there is a new A4 coming next year, so it's probably just taking a break, kind of like the Mazdaspeed6.

Audi has let slip that its bonkers super-sedan is getting the axe. Working to a strict one-model-at-a-time policy, Ingolstadt's extreme engineers are now focusing their energies on amping-up the horsepower in Audi's overpriced Golf TT to create the TT-RS. According to South Africa's Cartoday, com, super sedan lovers can turn to the S6, which offers almost as much oomph as the RS4– with a lot more weight in tow and about $25k more deducted from your bank account. A forthcoming RS6 will then replace the RS4 as Audi's top sedan. Next up (maybe):, the NEW RS4. That would arrive courtesy of the any-second-now Audi A5. The A5 sits on a new platform that repositions the engine back a bit, adding a little pseudo mid-engine magic to Audi's otherwise nose-heavy driving experience, Glory be, the next gen A4 will get the A5's new greasy bits. And that means as good as the current RS4 is– and it's "sell your kidney" good– the new A4-based RS4 should be a home run. Actually, it'll be a ball that leaves the park, circumnavigates the globe, and then hits the pitcher straight in the nose. To further whet your automotive appetite, our resident photochopper Andrei Avarvarii has prepared a little vision of the thunder to come.

Length/Wheelbase
'07 A4 - 180.55/104.37
A5 - 182.5/108.3
A6 - 193.54/104.37

So...for now, in between.

whoops, my bad. I didnt even know there was an A5. I thought they were just making the RS5 as a high perf intermediate between the RS4 and RS6(dunno)

It's a coupe. The '08 A4 shares a chassis with it, so they should be more or less the same size.
