The GTX was produced from 88' to 89' for US soil, and many more years over seas. It was ment to become a class A Ralley car, but sales did not work well, so it never got the title. Just about 1200 where imported to the americas. The sister car, the GT, which I own is even more rare sporting the same engine, but not Full Time AWD. Theres only a handful of both of these cars around now days, but if your looking for a project, there awesome. Parts are Very hard to come by, but Theres many, Not so obvious ways around that. Check out my GT Build Thread on this Forum for info. Ile be posting pics tonight. Be cuatious tho, if you are choosing to hack up the frame and body, you will get hated on, seeing as how rare these cars are.
