View Full Version : 2.0 Rough Idle when Warm

My car is starting to "shake" mildly (just slightly more than a vibration)

It pulses... comes in cycles every 5 seconds, lasting for maybe 2 or 3 seconds.

Only happens at low idle after the engine is fully warmed up.

Doesn't matter if its 60 or 90 degrees outside, it still does it.
Now, my RPM gauge only has 3 notches from 0 to 1000 RPM, and its just below the second notch)

If i had to guess, I'd say about 550 RPM.

Is this low?

I took it to the dealer, and he showed me a 2005 5spd Manual that did the same thing... however, not as severe.

He also told me that idle is non-adjustable on a 2007 Mazda 2.0 5Spd (as well as all 3's.

Is this true?

I'm thinking it might be a loose engine mount? the engine doesn't shake much when i take a peak at it though.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue?

The 2.0 dose not have a balancer, that might be the problem.

Mechanic at the dealer had another 2006 GS 5speed right after mine and chased after me to show me - Idled rough as well... and by rough... i might just be a fuss ass... however, it "pulses" in its vibration... 3 seconds off... 2 seconds on... so on. Might just be resonance or something. I'm toying with getting the motor mounts replaced. If i ever get around to doing it...
