I will start this off by sayin it wasn't hard just alot of work. It took me almost 7 hrs using the wrong tools for cutting into the bumper. their are several steps that i think you'll have to take no matter what fmic you install.
From the begining, oh how cute.....

That is awesome man!!

I have a (probably) very easy question: what did you cut off the bumper? -- Or more specifically: is whatever is removed going to change the crumple zones or safety of the car in your opinion?

Looks great..How much did it all cost when it was done?Im thinking about doing a FMIC or a hood scoop.

Job well done, it looks real good. Just wondering if all that work is worth it...when it comes to performance. If u can dyno it an see a significant difference ...better than the tmic upgrade, maybe ill look into going front mount. Probably the only downside is the work u have to put into it to get all these done, i must say, tmic upgrade only takes 45 mins to install ;-)

gL with it though

i've been talking with cpe and they told me that even with a top mount vs. prelim fmic is about 3 psi diffferent. so no matter how much whp difference my turbo's working less. i'm runnin full circ right now
its completely custom....one off
675 for intercooler and tubing
175 for cobb sri
323 turbosmart bpv
on in of the the pics you see where i had to cut off the one piece of bumper. well its useless, its a basic triangle that at its base is 1/2 in wide. it only has about 9 spot welds.

i like it and i give you maddddd props man.

but - i personally am not trying to cut corners on my car (literally). i don't want to chop up the car in any way until its the only way to get something done.

been there and done that with the old jetta I had. i feel bad for the new owner, or whoever looks to buy it (traded it in on the ms3)

The best thing about this entire thread is I have been looking for pics of the Cobb intake installed, and couldn't find them. Thanks!
