k i was just wondering if anyone new what would cause my o2 sensor on the mani to literally get fried. the mesh on the outside got heated up so bad that it looks like someone heat it up and went with pliers and ripped out a chunk, also the components on the inside of the mesh cracked in 2 and it jingled like a bell. can someone plz help me figure what would cause this.

Were you getting a CEL, I bet you are now but before this happene? I could imagine that running excessively lean could have damaged it, from heat it could fall apart. It would have to be pretty intense as O2's are made for a rough environment.

yea i forgot what it was but it was reading 02 sensor low voltage (bank 1) which i know was the primary o2 sensor, and then pending code was no activity. 2nd time this happened. first time was a yr and a half ago. since it was the second time i just wanted to figure out what it could be. i know i was running lean on on the lower rpm ranges on like 1/2 to a little above half throttle cuz i was getting tired of tryin to fix my a/f on my mpi. i would only hit that on a certain hill which i hardly go on. plus i don't know how much it would hit that lean spot now cuz my sis is driving my car since i got a ms3 now.
it u are wondering my setup is dual setup hks ssqv and stock bpv, ion fmic, 12psi, gt28rs, cs turbo back, mpi, aem cold changed to sri, polyurethane motor mounts, lol snapped 2 lsd's already. but thanks for the info i'll make sure i don't have anymore lean spots. if you wanna know how i am running my mpi its set on 505zooms timing except i advanced it a little more on everything and i just did the a/f on my own since his setting was running excesively rich on my car. i live in hawaii big island to be exact and humidity here is brutal. so heat wise i am pretty my motor gets super hot. i gotta get a pyro gauge to to see what the heat temps are in my exhaust.
thanks orgn1 for your info.

Advancing the ignition timing will raise the temps. Becareful advancing timing, your already runninmg to much boost for stock fuel injectors. They are stocks right? I sometimes want to run that much boost but I remember I'm limited so I try to avoid blowing the motor. Might want to lower the boost, since it is your sis driving. Sisters can be rough on a car, since it's not really theirs...

lol seriously on the timing i have no idea yet on how much timing i can run and not run. but as far as my sis driving i dunno if she can really mess the car up lol i drive it hard all day everyday i get in it lol. i got a spare here too if i do blow it though so not to worried about the motor. but i have been running 12 psi since the 6 month i had the car and been running it ever since. the gt28rs has been running at 12psi since i got it and that has been atleast 8 months. o yah it is the stock injectors but i do have an aem wideband which i forgot to mention and my a/f are low 12's to 12.8 on full throttle so right now the stockers are doing fine in my knowledge that i have so far on tuning. well that is fine isn't it? lol dunno just thought it was also i got an extra injector setup just gotta figure out how to splice the fuel line for the extra injector and i also gotta put my walbro 255 lph pump back in when i do that.

505zoom is running 12psi on his speed but the only upgrade he has more than me i think is that he got lucky and got his mam mani i unfortunately was one of those that got scammed and didn't see my money back or mani. plus he changed his front mount from the ion to the mam fmic which i believe the mam was cooler than the ion.
