light weight is better , but more costly. the less weight the better ya know ;-)
um...watch out for chrome rims, it does not look good with this car. the best rims for this car is the mazdaspeed rims , it's normally available for rx-8 but if you're gonna buy these lightweight baby's. its gonna cost you roun 3000 k -0

Those are one I have given some thought to just because of the weight. What negatives have you heard about them?

LOL! You be nice, Swampass. He's new and doesn't know your flavor of humor yet!
Blinkmaster, he owns the O.Z.'s, and they fit perfectly. He's just being silly.
Honest suggestion for newbies that don't know a lot about wheels and tires? Look up tirerack.com, and let them be your guide. They'll tell you the weight, and what really fits.

I just got a set of Motegi Traklight 2.0 17x8s. They're supposedly 14.3 lbs each. Put on some tires that are the same weight as the stockers and you can save nearly 8lbs per corner!
I personally got the all-black ones because they're Teflon coated (and I don't particularly care about looks) but they also have silver ones that look fricken sweet!

(They have a 5-114.3 bolt pattern as well.)
I should note that the Motegi website does not list the Traklite 2 wheels as a compatible wheel for Mazdaspeed3s... Assuming they do actually fit I'll post some pics when I get 'em on...
