Hey everyone at Tri-Point
I have a few questions regarding engine oil.
Firstly what engine oil do you use in the Touring Cars (Just curious)?
I have been using Redline 5w20 for long while now in my Mazda6 (3.0L V6), I also have a mechanical oil pressure gauge and mechanical oil temperature gauge (mounted in the oil pan) installed on my car. Yesterday I saw the oil temps approaching +260F. I figured this was getting a little high since the gauge stops at 280F. I like to know what would be the optimum temperature for the engine oil to ensure optimum lubrication?
All of the oil thermostats that I've seen on the market are set at 180F, so is this the temperature to shoot for?
The car uses a wet sump engine oil lubrication system that holds 6L of engine oil. If I do need an oil cooler can you suggest what size of cooler I need.
Thanks very much.
