Just curious if anyone had any ideas/options for mounting our stock MAF to a custom intake tube. I've been bored and wanting to make my own CAI but I cant figure out how to get the MAF onto a tube. I've found some MAF mounting tubes on amazon for sizes way larger than ours but I heard that our MAF only works with 2.25 ID sizes. Spectre MAF mount (http://http://www.amazon.com/Spectre-8705-Chrome-Sensor-Mount/dp/B000BPUTQE/ref=pd_ybh_8/104-2494118-8850330?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1ZRB0ST18EF6YWYBWEE9&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_p=280800601&pf_rd_i=ybh)
I dunno if maybe I could do the ghetto tire patch fix to get the ID near the sensor to 2.25
Any help would be appreciated. I realize the simota is only 150 bucks, but I cant really talk myself into dumping that kinda money on a CAI at once..but if I piece one together...well I can prolly talk myself into that ;) lol

if you already have an aftermarket intake with the MAF fitting on it, you can cut it off and have a shop weld it onto the new intake...

alright, another step into penny-pinching performance...

Just how completely ineffective would it be to put a hard pipe (ABS, PCV) from the throttle body to the air box (with a K&N) and then a hard pipe from the air box to a region of cold air (either where the snorkel goes now, bone stock. or down to the fender hole on the driver's side). I'd use flexible elbows and connectors between sections to allow for flexibility.

I realize the box will be a pressure drop due to its size in comparison to the pipes...but wouldnt it be an improvement? I just cant afford 150 bucks for a CAI, but 20-30 bucks worth of pipe and connectors sounds about right.

I wouldn't even worry about it if your going to do that, the gains you would receive would be worth the time and struggle to get it all put together. It's up to you though, if you want to do it for fun or just the experience, it will probably have a nice sound to it when its done. you would also need something on the very end intake pipe to prevent water from getting up in like another filter, unless u make a section that drops off and has a hole in the bottom between the end of the second pipe and the air box. I don't think the K&N dropin is water proof.
