Alright so I have 2 10" subs in my trunk and the box keeps moving around if I drive a little spirited. Which wasn't a problem until today when the box shifted and one of the wires cam unplugged.

Getting to the point, I need suggestions on how to hold the box in place. Perferably something cheap.

the way i resolved this was by putting some industrial strength velcro on both the box, and on the carpeting in the trunk. works very well. one time the carpeting actually pulled up and almost tipped the box over, but the box was still attached to the carpeting.

this also only happened because of the carpet not being in the right spot.

Is the box carpeted? Having some carpet on the box worked for me in my old escort.

My next suggestion would be a Velcro strip. Put the cloth side on the carpet and the grippy side on the box.

Really cheap, cut 3. 2x4's the length you need to hold the box in place.

Yeah it is carpeted, and I never thought of using velcro.

Thanks :)

Hey Paradox, mind posting a pic of your setup in the trunk? I'd like to upgrade the stereo in the car but being in sales I need the trunk space as well. I am already shorter on space going from the down right HUGE trunk in the GTP to that of the MS6. I'm just looking for ideas on how to go about finding a good balance of sound and maintaining space. Thanks sir.

your best bet to maintain space in the trunk is to go with one sub. that is what i have in mine. the amp and cap are mounted to the top of the box to conserve even more space. i still have enough room in my trunk to pack up my hunting stuff.

here is a pic if you would like

I'll have to take a pic but trust me with my setup you can say goodbye to trunk space. I have less than half of what I had before. And babz is right, 1 sub would be best for space.

Edit: here u go. And my amp is mounted on the back of the box.

Not sure. But to guess I would say 40-60 pounds. yeah its a lot of extra weight, but I'm not doing any engine mods for a little while so I aint worried about that atm.

i had a system in my mustang a few years back, 2400watts in two 12" subs...NO TRUNK SPACE WHATSOEVER! also the box slid around a ton in that drift machine lol, so i secured it by screwing four screws into the carpet of the trunk around each edge of the box. the box never moved til i jumped the car off a 7' ledge, the screws worked great. oh and it probably wieghed about 150+lbs (loser) terrible for performance!

LOL pHeel. Well I dont exactly have that big of a system, but a 7' ledge would make anything shift just a little. Oh and thanks babz I'll stop by home depot tonight

ya it was overkill, i was young...well younger (glare) lol. but ya your right, i think the whole car shifted a little that night rofl. and an important lesson was learned (first), sorta lol my car drove away perfect(and so muddy!) after i had a big lifted Jimmy pull my car back up onto the road.
