View Full Version : 2007 SPEED3 loud banging sound?!?

I have a 2007 Speed3 that I have had for about a month now with 1000 kms on it. Under hard acceleration on bumpy roads I have noticed that there is a loud bang that seems to be from the left front of the car. It kind of sounds like the front suspension is hitting hard and compacting the shocks completly. Is this bang normal or could it even possibly be a problem with a motor mount? I know there is a recall on the #4 mount. When this mount blows is it quite noticable ie. heavy vibrations or a little more subtle and more like what I am experienceing.. I called my dealer, they were VERY helpful......................

You should take it in for the mount recall regardless. The mount is in the front left side of the vehicle.

I'm gonna pull it into the shop I work at tonight and take a look to see if I see anything....

check all your suspension bolts in the rear too, a guy said he had loose bolts. yea your mount maybe fucked also

I know you said the sound is coming from the front but check your passenger side sway bar nut. Many people have had problems with it coming loose including myself.

just had it up on the hoist, and everything seemed tight and fine.. I'll monitor it for a while and see how it goes and if needed book an appointment with the dealer.. I think the shock is just bottoming out...

^ did you check the motor mount? There is a thread somewhere around here about what to look for. I can't describe it exactly but there is some exces rubber on the bad ones.

it's probably just wheel hop man. the same thing happens to me when i get on it in first or second on bumpy roads.

I think its the combination between wheel hop and large road bumps.. Its not just the sound wheel hop makes its way louder than that and only happens once.

i'm sure wheel hop is much worse in our cars because there's so much more power.

I just got my car from the dealer for the recalls and I'm hearing one on the right side front of the car
