But I was behind a local modded EVO8 the other day and it seemed like every time he got into boost or shifted a little higher than just 2-3k (normal driving) it would spit a little flame.
I wanted to see how I compared to it, until then.
A lot of really fast cars you see in videos road racing or even street racing shoot flames every now and then.
My question is: how can I spit a flame every now and then... SAFELY??? And I dont mean a 5 ft fireball that melts my plastic bumper, just a little poof of fire to scare away some of the V8s.
(p.s.-- hurry up and make some nasty cams for this thing)
That is all.

You could probably do it with a nice free-flowing exhaust.

Personally I don't think thats ricey.... I mean how many rice civics, integras, etc shoot flame? You don't. You see high hp Evo's, Skylines, etc. shoot flames. To me when I see flames when someone shifts or whatever I think thats probably a fast car, not oo thats rice.

To me, I see a car that is running waaaaay too rich. :) IMO its pretty lame but here are a few places that sell flamethrower kits.

first step is no cat. second is a shitty tune that makes you run too rich. that's pretty much all there is to it

I've had one person comment on my car shooting a flame. It was on a 2-3 shift and from what I was told, it was HUGE. Something in the 2 foot range. (ricer)

you cant spit a flame with the stock turbo in our cars. I had no cats, stock rich a/f, and i still couldnt pop a flame. The only ms6's that ive seen shoot flames have garrett turbos and tbe's

Srt-4's are notorious for this as well. When I had mine, it would do it when I WOT shifted or ..when I bounced off the rev limiter(whoops). But simple formula. No cat/lots of fuel!

I'm straight through and pig rich. Someone isn't going to lie to me about seeing a fireball. It's not like I asked them to look for one and they just went along with it, saying there was one when there really wasn't.

It's called an anti-lag system.

you guys are talking about 2 different cars. the MS6 splits the exhaust at the rear so the buildup of fuel needed for fire may not be happening. the MS3 has 1 exit so all of the fuel is there and baboom

there are way easier and cheaper ways to get fire than an anti-lag system. it'll work but if fire is your only goal an anti-lag system is way overkill. it is cool though

So does this anti lag crap hurt the turbo any. How is it done we have a Tsi to try this on?

It can create shaft play after a while. It is pretty tough on the turbo.
I've heard some nice pops here and there since my last post in this thread.

Funny you mention pops when shifting Ill. I was getting on the highway from Brown Ave and punched it up the on ramp and could have sworn I heard a pop when upshifting close to 6K into 4th. Muuhahahaaaaaaa

It's quite possible. Mine are generally at the top of second when I lift. It's not that I sort of hear them, as it's very loud. I'd place it very similar to a gunshot going off. :D

i drove a V8 mustang and whenever i saw flames come out of an import, it def. didnt scare me. It did give me more of a reason to make them look stupid tho.

After hanging out with a bunch of RX-7 guys a few weeks back, this is the easiest way to make flames shoot out the exhaust.
FC+Street Port+Sinlge Turbo+Open Exhuast+Rich tune=back fire every time you lift, and flames when you really get on it.

probably bolt-on or stock v8's. When i had my stang i could tell which imports i could beat and which i couldnt. If i couldnt, i still tried. I had a nice supercharger though.

+1 and i watched a roush get walked by a saturn.
I run a straight through tbe on my MS3, When I rev it up high I hear the occasional pop. Anyways coming out of the bank yesterday there were two kids in a HHR playing thier music really loud with a aftermarket stereo. I was in the next lane over and I could feel the bass in my car and it was giving me a headache, so I revved up my motor to get them to look over (got quite a few loud pops ^_^). They looked over and I told them to turn the bass down, and they did. Anywho, a few lights down the road a guy in a honda said "dude, you were shooting 2foot flames out of your exhaust. That's pretty cool."

I shoot flames ever so often if I'm in WOT and I have a TBE w/ a high flow cat. Tells you how rich some of these cars are running.

Seeing flames shoot out of a Ford GT = "Terror"
Seeing flames shoot out of a MS3 = "Run.. she's gonna blowwwwww"
:D while it may look cool somehow I dont think its a good thing for your cats..

I would love to have a slight burst of flames...nothing big; 1/2 to 1 foot out of the muffler tip... But not every time I shift...only during WOT...
There is an STi in my neighborhood that I drove behind a few months back at night and every time he shifted there was a nice little blue glow from his exhaust... I wouldn't mind having that... :)
(It's not rice)
Rice is unpainted body kits, loud ass slow cars, 5" coffee can mufflers, spinner hub caps, shift light in a 20 sec (0-60) car, etc... You get the picture...
Little flame out of our cars... COOL!!!

get a TBE with no cats and heat wrap the entire thing. That will shoot flames. or like said before get a Rotory with no cats.

Well before my ems when i had, cp-e intake, and cp-e downpipe without cats i could shoot a 2ft flame on most of my shifts
my friends was tailing my in his f-350 (bullydog programmed) and everytime he was on my ass i just made sure to let the clutch out a bit slower and shot a flame evrytime, made him back off quick LOL
